The Red Bull team is enjoying Max Verstappen’s remarkable Brazilian GP victory. The RBR triple champion surged his way from P17 to an emphatic win. The triumph ended his ten-race winless drought, re-establishing him as the top world title contender. This year, F1 fans witnessed Verstappen’s ten-race winless streak, which was the complete opposite of last year. The Dutchman won ten straight races in 2023, carving a masterful supremacy. The sheer domination by Red Bull and Max Verstappen helped them win a double world title. Moreover, Christian Horner called it a ‘unicorn year’ as the Austrian outfit enjoyed unparalleled success.
Max Verstappen embodied the story of 2023 domination, but Christian Horner, Helmut Marko, and the entire team played vital roles. Recently, a Red Bul account report revealed that the team generated £307,472 million ($402 million) revenue in 2023, up from £278,026 million in 2022, marking a 10.6% rise. However, its profit margin dropped as they rewarded members for remarkable performances. Moreover, the report has also unveiled a massive rise in Christian Horner’s salary.
Christian Horner Reaffirms “Highest Paid F1 Principal” Status With An 11% Salary Hike
Christian Horner, the Red Bull chief, is currently the longest-serving spearhead in F1. He has built a team from scratch, starting in 2005 when the Bulls were a lower-field setup. The Briton has led the team to six Constructor’s Cups and seven Drivers Cups in the last twenty years. The 2023 season was a record-breaking year for the team, winning 21 out of 22 races. As per the recent Red Bull Technology Ltd account report, Christian Horner was rewarded with an 11 percent salary hike. The boost saw his salary rise from £ 8.04 million in 2022 to £8.92m in 2023. Moreover, as the team’s revenue sky-rocketed upto £446m, shareholders – not including Horner got a £50m dividend.
This places Horner on top of “F1’s highest-paid Team Boss,” as Toto Wolff has a smaller pay scale (£6m). However, Wolff has a one-third stake in Mercedes, increasing his annual dividend to £25m in 2023. Additionally, according to Forbes magazine, Toto Wolff has a net worth of over £1bn. Meanwhile, McLaren’s spearhead, Zak Brown, earned £26.4m, which was £9m in 2022.
Christian Horner has had a dramatic year thus far, full of allegations, investigations, backlash, and setbacks. It all started with a sexual misconduct case, from which he was fully exonerated. But it ignited a fire of internal power struggle, dividing the reigning champions into two sides. Although the fire has subsided, it is far from extinguished. Thus, the upcoming season could be a huge challenge for Horner, especially with an imminent regulatory change.
Helmut Marko Rewarded For Talent Scouting And Adisory Contribution
The senior Red Bull advisor, also a close ally to Max Verstappen, played a crucial role in Red Bull’s domination. Helmut Marko has groomed several racing talents as the head of the company’s junior driver program. His salary doubled from £3.5m pay packet in 2022 to £7m in 2023. The Austrian executive has also renewed his contract with Red Bull, and he will continue with the team till 2026.
