Red Bull Boss Responds To Criticism From Jos Verstappen Regarding Team Not Favoring The Reigning World Champ Max!

Max Verstappen Red Bull

Red Bull won their fourth consecutive race at the Monaco Grand Prix. While Verstappen won the first three races in Imola, Miami, and Spain, Sergio Perez was the driver who delivered victory for Red Bull in Principality during the last racing weekend. Max Verstappen finished third in the same race, giving the Austrian racing team a double podium at Monte Carlo. Ferrari\’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz led the practice session, and the qualifying as the Monegasque started in the pole position. However, Leclerc lost his lead because of Ferrari\’s pit error, allowing Perez to clinch the victory in Monaco eventually.

The credit for Checo\’s win also goes to his team, who prioritized him in a grid strategy instead of his world champion teammate. However, Max Verstappen\’s father was not too pleased by Red Bull\’s decision and felt that his son was not helped. Jos stated that he would have liked things to be different for the championship leader. The former Dutch racing driver also suggested that Red Bull wasted ten points in Monaco.

Horner Responds To Jos Verstappen\’s Criticism

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner was quick to respond to the comments from Jos Verstappen in a recent interview. The team principal stated that the two drivers are team players at the end of the day. Both the drivers are part of the Red Bull Racing team and not Sergio Perez or Max Verstappen Racing. Horner thought that they work for the team and have a responsibility. Christian further shared that Checo and Max drive a car that has been designed and produced by 800 employees at the factory for them. Hence, the drivers are an important link in the change. Horner added, \”But it is vital that they are aware that the team\’s ambition is greater than their own.\”

Last year, Red Bull was completely focused on getting Verstappen to a championship win. However, things have changed this season. Horner was asked about his preferred driver to win the championship this season. The Red Bull director responded that it did not matter which one among Checo and Verstappen is the world champion as they both are Red Bull drivers. Red Bull had a tough start to the year with some reliability issues with their RB-18 cost them some crucial points early in the championship.

However, Max Verstappen\’s hattrick took him ahead of Charles Leclerc in the drivers\’ standings. The Dutchman has 125 points, which is 15 more than his teammate Sergio, who is in the third spot. It looks like Red Bull will look to continue its domination at another street circuit in Baku for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on June 12, 2022. Perez won the race in Baku last season, and the Mexican driver would look to get his second win of the season during the weekend.
