It looks like Red Bull principal Christian Horner wants to keep all the best players in the outfit at any cost. As per the recent reports, he is refusing AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly’s possible move to the Alpine. The British driver has kept the condition that unless they get Indycar racer Colton Herta or any other efficient driver on board, they are unlikely to relieve Gasly for the 2023 season.

Gasly’s Move Depends On Colton Herta’s Debut

Pierre Gasly is currently in a contract with AlphaTauri until the end of 2023. However, recent paddock rumors suggest that Indycar driver Colton Herta could replace Gasly next year if the deal goes through. Herta tested for McLaren at the start of this year, and Red Bull boss Christian Horner is pretty desperate to get him on board with Red Bull’s sister team. This will allow the Frenchman to move on from AlphaTauri to Alpine.

Fernando Alonso is all set to leave Alpine for Aston Martin. The transfer came up when Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement from motorsport. Therefore, this entire Gasly move depends on Colton Herta boarding AlphaTauri as per the Red Bull boss’ wish. However, until now, neither Horner nor AlphaTauri boss Franz Tost has confirmed those reports.

Red Bull & AlphaTauri Boss Set To Have New Driver

Christian Horner has previously stated that a lot of moving plates are happening at this point, and they are following their interest. However, Gasly is a Red Bull Racing driver on loan to AlphaTauri. Therefore, made his intentions clear about the certain condition. But apparently, the Indycar racer does not have an FIA Super Licence. The specific document is a necessity or him to be able to compete in Formula One. However, Horner clarified that it is an FIA issue that the organization will look over. “Because that plays a key role obviously in the driver merry-go-round,” the British driver added.

On the other hand, AlphaTauri’s principal Frans Tost has asserted that whichever driver the Red Bull team will provide to him, he will work on that person. “I don’t know him [Herta], have never seen him,” he said. “I don’t care which driver Red Bull gives me; it’s my job to educate them. That’s it, whoever it is,” Tost on his choice of the particular driver.

Hass boss Guenther Steiner has also mentioned that Colton Herta is not on the list of 2023 drivers as of now, the reason being the Super License. Amid the roster turn at Hass, Steiner reckoned that they are looking for someone who has driven in the F1. So, they don’t have Herta in their mind at all.
