The New York Yankees had several injury issues in 2023. Moreover, they had the second-worst batting average last season. In the end, they failed to make the postseason this year. On top of that, the NY side had the franchise’s worst season in the last 30 years. Since 2016, for the first time, the Bronx Bombers missed the postseason. It was utterly humiliating for the fans. Later, the owner and the captain revealed that the organization is planning to make big changes this offseason.

Who can the NY side pick to improve the offense as well as the defense? Perhaps there can be even a better prospect than Cody Bellinger for the Yankees. Recently, a multiple-time Gold Glove winner showed interest in signing with the Yankees. As per Erik Boland of Newsday, Kevin Keirmaier wanted to join the NY side.

What Happens If Kevin Keirmaier Joins The Yankees?

If that happens, then the Yankees can land a very good defensive center fielder in the game of baseball. Keirmaier spent 10 years of his career with the Tampa Bay Rays and one year with the Toronto Blue Jays. Erik Boland mentioned that Kevin said at the fag end of the season to the people of Toronto that he might sign with the Yankees for a long-term deal. This move for Keiramaier makes a lot of sense as he stayed most of his career in the American League East. He’s also a great defensive center fielder. Moreover, Kevin has won three Gold Glove Awards and can surely win a few more.

On top of that, in 2023, he proved that he can be steady in the offense as well. Kevin hit eight homers, and 36 RBIs, along with 14 stolen bases. Moreover, he had a slash line of .265/.322/.419. Clearly, he would be a great help for the Yankees. Moreover, he can allow Jasson Dominguez enough time to recover and return to sound health. Once Dominguez returns, the Yankees can figure out a way to incorporate them together in the lineup. Hence, the NY side should at least consider this move.

The NY Side Is Eager To Make A Lot Of Changes

Moreover, the Bronx Bombers hired a consulting firm to look over their analytics and figure out what they did wrong last season. Only time will tell if the hiring of a consulting firm will come in handy or not. But the Yankees will surely look for big changes in their roster. Moreover, they were looking for a left-handed slugger, and the link with Juan Soto is getting a lot of attention from the fans. But Soto, who currently plays for the San Diego Padres, will anyway be a very expensive deal.

Moreover, the Padres are still unsure if they want to keep Soto until the end of the next season. Hence, the Yankees should look for other options to improve their offense. There are a few outfielders who can be pretty good options for the NY side this free agency. Cody Bellinger is one of them, and his father was part of the Yankees Dynasty that won the World Series in the 1990s. Hence, Bellinger is already a born and raised Yankee. Moreover, he also has a World Series title on his impressive resume.
