Unarguably, the New York Yankees have a tough off-season ahead and a lot on their plate. The front office is perhaps not equipped with the kind of workload as they have never witnessed such an unprecedented season. Thus, the team is mulling to seek outside help. As per rumors, the franchise will consult a third-party firm to review its analytical process.

Apart from analytics, the Yankees must also reflect on their roster constructions. The squad will undoubtedly be chopped and restructured throughout the course of the off-season. As far as the roster revamp is concerned, the front office is likely to seek the help of top players to understand their side. However, a particular radio host fails to see sense in the move.

WFAN Host Ridicules Gerrit Cole, Aaron Judge’s Alleged Involvement In Yankees Internal Matters

Right after the New York Yankees wrapped up the season in Kansas last weekend, the ace pitcher Gerrit Cole shared his final words on the appalling season. Besides questioning the roster construction, Cole shared a snippet of his off-season plan. The pitcher said that he and captain Aaron Judge are likely to be consulted on roster matters during front-office meetings. Apparently, the decision-making team wants to hear the player’s side and build a team around the star-studded duo. After all, Cole and Judge remain their best performers and understand the game as well as the franchise really well.

However, WFAN radio host Boomer Esiason does not see any sense in the alleged involvement of Gerrit Cole and Aaron Judge. He thinks the duo cannot offer any valuable advice. They don’t know the analytics, nor have they ever interviewed a player before. Boomer fails to understand on what basis will Judge and Cole offer feedback on a particular player acquisition. “It sounds ridiculous to me,” said Esiason. Having said that, Cole has been in the league for nearly a decade and knows the current scene well. On the other hand, Judge knows the franchise in and out. He has worked with the minor league system closely in the past. Thus, the duo can indeed offer some credible advice. But again, the front office cannot solely depend on the star duo. They would have to consult experts at some point.

Aaron Judge Has Plans But Refuses To Let Out Details

As far as captain Aaron Judge is concerned, he already has plans to fix the 2023 mistakes in 2024. In an interview, the captain confirmed meeting Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner this week at Tampa. Apparently, the entire front office will mark their presence and discuss the persisting issues as well as potential solutions.

Aaron Judge has stressed the importance of changing age-old philosophies and induction of high-average players to balance the roster. Moreover, he also has some ideas on quick fixes but refuses to let out the details of the same. The captain says that there’s only so much he can do alone. He would need the opinion and validation of the entire top brass before making any decisions.
