For the 2018 season, Toro Rosso added drivers Gasly and Hartley to their roster. Before the Belgian Grand Prix of 2019, Gasly was returned to the junior team, Toro Rosso.
In his career, Pierre Gasly has been on the podium three times, all of which occurred in the previous three years. He earned his maiden podium result in the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix, ranking second to Max Verstappen of Red Bull in a tumultuous race. The next year, in 2020, he won his maiden Grand Prix, finishing ahead of Carlos Sainz and Lance Stroll to take home the victory. In 2021, Gasly again placed on the podium, this time in third place behind Sebastian Vettel and Sergio Perez in Azerbaijan.
