The Golden State Warriors had a terrible 2023-2024 season. It marked the end of the iconic Dubs trio because Klay Thompson moved to the Dallas Mavericks this offseason. The last season, the sharpshooter had wearing the GSW uniform was not a season he would like to remember. In fact, it was Klay’s worst NBA season in terms of average and performance since the 2012-2013 season. But this offseason, the Dub Nation still finds it shocking that one of the ‘Splash Brothers’ has left the organization. Fans would like to see Thompson end his career wearing the Dubs uniform. But the veteran shooting guard decided that he would like to have a fresh start with the Mavs.

Now, that the four-time champion shooting guard has moved to the last season’s runner-up team, the Warriors find themselves in a dire situation. Fans fear Stephen Curry and Draymond Green might follow Thompson’s path and leave the team. These franchise icons want to win more titles, and at least stay part of a top contender. During the 2024 Paris Olympics, Steph hinted at the possibility of him leaving the Dubs if the team becomes a ‘Bottom-feeder.’ Now, what can the seven-time champion organization do to keep Green and Curry happy?

Lately, Stephen Curry won the Olympics Gold medal in his first attempt, and it might also be the last. He is 36 years old now. The three-point King is in the mood to win more championships, especially with head coach Steve Kerr. Moreover, the Warriors cum Team USA head coach has been immensely successful. Kerr’s collaboration with Curry has produced titles for the Dubs. Moreover, Green and Thompson played their part in four title wins really well. They will miss Klay, for sure. At present, the Bay Area team is aware that they don’t have a roster worthy to win more titles.

Lately, The Athletic’s Anthony Slater reported that the front office knows that they need to surround the three-point King with a better-supporting cast at some point next season. Moreover, Slater added, “Team sources believe if the 2025 championship has to be a reachable goal then the current roster is nowhere near a finished product.” The stakeholders of the GSW franchise want to sustain the greatness of Steph Curry. But Slater’s report can surely break the hearts of several Warriors fans as they know too about the weak current roster. Without Thompson, the Dubs just don’t look complete.

What Can The Warriors Do To Improve?

First of all, the Warriors can wait and see how the next season pans out. Before the next trade deadline, the Dubs have to come up with a plan to sign a disgruntled star from another club. This offseason, they failed to land a star, but not due to lack of trying. Secondly, the Warriors must see the young stars like Brandin Podziemski, Jonathan Kuminga as well as Moses Moody as guys who’ll take the team forward.

Can these guys prove to be star-calibre players next season? The Warriors HC Steve Kerr will have to come up with different rotations to see which works better. Until Mike Dunleavy and co. makes some moves, they will have to put together a string of good performances to stay competitive in the Western Conference.
