Sir Lewis Hamilton is just not having a great time in the grid. First of all, he lost his winning way in 2021. One of the most epic and controversial losses in recent times, Hamilton missed his chance to win the coveted eighth title in 2021. The last race he won came back in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in 2021. If he had won the final race of that season, he would have been eight-time champions already. However, things took an ugly turn for the most successful driver in the sport.

Since 2022, he has been winless. Meanwhile, a new controversy emerged as Hamilton crashed with George Russell’s car in the Qatar Grand Prix 2023. George Russell was livid with his teammate once the crash happened. Albeit, initially, Lewis Hamilton blamed it on his teammate. Later, after he calmed down, the seven-time champion admitted his fault. Recently, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko criticized the Mercedes star for heavy shunts in the past as well.

While talking on Servus TV of Red Bull, Marko claims Hamilton created heavy shunts previously with Max Verstappen several times in 2021 as well. Hence, Marko stated that now Lewis Hamilton is admitting his faults for those shunts. Despite the crash in the Qatar Grand Prix, George Russell was able to manage a P4 finish after recovering from the spin. However, Lewis Hamilton was out of the race in Qatar right after the heavy shunt. Moreover, OE24 suggested that Hamilton has been making a lot of errors in his game recently.

In reply, Helmut Marko said the correct thing to say is that now Hamilton has started to own up to his mistakes. Back in 2021, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen crashed into each other in Silverstone and in Monza. In Silverstone, Hamilton and Verstappen tagged at Copse, and the latter was hurtling into the barriers. However, in Monza, the drivers crashed in the opening chicane, resulting in Verstappen’s car on top of Hamilton’s. Coming back to 2023, in the Qatar Grand Prix, Hamilton’s race ended abruptly, but Max went on to win yet another Grand Prix.

The fans are afraid that Lewis Hamilton will have back-to-back winless seasons. If that was not enough, then there is a new rumor suggesting things are going south between Hamilton and his teammate. Albeit, both George Russell and Hamilton seem to have a great understanding when they’re off the track. But on the track, they are fierce rivals. It started after George Russell defeated Lewis Hamilton in his debut season for Mercedes.

The seven-time champion failed to win a single race in 2022. But the only win for Mercedes last year came via Russell’s W13 in the Brazilian Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton was a close second in the 2022 Brazilian Grand Prix. However, in 2023, Hamilton performed far better than his teammate. Albeit, Mercedes has failed to win a race this season so far. The internal rivalry between Mercedes drivers keeps getting fiercer.
