“Not The Worst” Yankees Aaron Boone-Jomboy In Conflict Over Gleyber Torres’ Defensive Horrors

Gleyber Torres, the New York Yankees regular second baseman, is not popular as a defensive infielder. However, his goof-ups in the recent past have been concerning and awful, to the least. This year, Torres broke all records with ridiculous numbers of errors at second base.

In the last week alone, Gleyber Torres committed two errors in two back to back games which not only allowed oppositions to score but also earn the momentum. Amid a troubling season, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone still chose to back Torres during a recent podcast appearance with Talkin Yanks.

Aaron Boone Ridicules Jomboy’s Criticism Of Gleyber Torres

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone and popular Yankees podcaster Jomboy have found themselves at odds over the recent defensive struggles of infielder Gleyber Torres. In the latest appearance on the Talkin Yanks podcast, Jomboy highlighted the defensive errors of Jazz Chisholm Jr and Gleyber Torres at third base and second base, respectively. However, Boone pushed back on Chisholm’s criticism, saying that a couple of errors from a guy who had never played third base before were acceptable and not alarming at all. Then, Jomboy turned to Gleyber Torres, who is leading MLB in most errors at second base. However, the skipper even refused to label Torres as the worst second baseman in the league. He ridiculed Jomboy’s analysis and deemed it far-fetched.

Aaron Boone downplayed the severity of Gleyber Torres’ defensive issues, suggesting that while Torres has made some mistakes, his defence is “not the worst.” The skipper acknowledged that Torres has had some struggles but emphasized that he has also made significant improvements in his overall game. Overall, Aaron Boone remains optimistic that Torres will continue to work on his defence and improve over time. Meanwhile, Jomboy’s criticism has resonated with a segment of the fan base that feels the team has been too lenient in addressing player accountability. The clash between Boone’s guarded defence of Torres and Jomboy’s blunt critique captures the tension in the New York Yankees’ camp as they fight to stay relevant in a competitive league. With three weeks left in the regular season, Torres himself has to show some accountability and step up as his spot on the Yankee roster is also on the line.

How Do The Yankees Plan On Using Jasson Dominguez?

After much public outrage, the New York Yankees promoted top prospect Jasson Dominguez to the major league roster earlier this week. While Jasson was tipped to play every day by general manager Brian Cashman, skipper Aaron Boone has a fluid plan for the kid. He will use Dominguez as centre fielder on days when Aaron Judge plays DH.

On other days, he could replace Alex Verdugo on left field, or he might miss a couple of games depending upon the team composition and the quality of the opposition. Not only that, Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed that Jasson Dominguez has always been in conversation for a call-up. And the roster is a living organism with nobody’s spot being certain.
