Left-handed pitcher Carlos Rodon’s journey to the New York Yankees came with high expectations. He signed a massive six-year $162 million deal in 2022, moments after opting out of his two-year deal with the Chicago White Sox. While Rodon was expected to anchor the rotation, the debut season turned out to be a nightmare.

In an injury-crippled debut season, Carlos Rodon could pitch only 14 starts, during which his ERA touched 6.85. He wasn’t received well by the fans, which added to his frustration. However, the dark clouds are past him as Rodon finds his way around this year and finally seems to have settled in the City of New York.

New York Yankees 2023 season bust Carlos Rodon has rediscovered his old form this MLB season as his ERA lowered to 3.27 in 10 starts already. In his latest achievement, Rodon pitched a total of six innings against his former team, the Chicago White Sox, and allowed just 2 earned runs in four hits to propel the Yanks to a spectacular 7-2 win to sweep the White Sox at home. Rodon asked manager Aaron Boone to allow him the sixth inning, and the pitcher repaid the faith by minimizing damage. That being said, Rodon’s win-loss ratio this year has been 5-2, and the rebounding pitcher couldn’t be happier.

In the post-game interview, Carlos Rodon said that when he arrived last year, the Yankee Stadium haunted him. But the perception has completely changed this season. Rodon added that now when he sits in the dugout and looks around the stadium, he does not feel overwhelmed anymore. After a whole year of his six-year contract, Rodon can finally refer to Yanks as his home. “This feels like home, which is nice. That makes a huge difference for sure,” said Rodon after a 7-2 win over the White Sox. Indeed, the debut season was extremely hard for Rodon as he struggled with expectations amid an injury-riddled season. The competitive nature of Bronx was unsettling, and he lost his cool on multiple occasions. However, time heals everything, and for Carlos Rodon, his off-season grind has finally paid off as he continues to stack up wins for the New York Yankees.
