New York Yankees definitely have to reconsider it’s hitting lineup due to lack of production from the leadoff spot. Over the past many weeks, skipper Aaron Boone tried to fit in multiple hitters at the top. But no could provide the consistency that Boone desires to have from the no.1 hitter.

Having said that, with trusted bats like Alex Verdugo, Anthony Volpe and DJ LeMahieu failing to hit at leadoff spot, the New York Yankees could potentially use a powerhouse prospect from the minor leagues. However, General Manager Brian Cashman shot down the idea, stating that there was no lane to bring back the Martian.

Jasson Dominguez, popularly known as The Martian for his uncharacteristic hitting skills, grabbed headlines with a record-breaking major league debut last year. However, a Tommy John surgery followed by an oblique strain forced Dominguez to build up from scratch and cost him the 2024 MLB season. He was touted to start as an everyday outfield starter before the kid tore his UCL elbow. Notably, Dominguez is hitting .253/.303/.386, including two homers and 11 RBIs across the 21 games he’s managed to play this season at Triple-A. He is finally fit and healthy enough to transition back into the majors and could be the leadoff solution the New York Yankees are desperately looking for.

However, New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman closed doors on Jasson Dominguez’s imminent promotion to the major league. He said that while it’s good to have Jasson in the wings, health is the club’s top priority. They view Dominguez as an everyday left fielder, and when his time comes, the Yanks wouldn’t flinch to put him in the everyday role. But for now, the Martian will be required to keep patience and build up in the minor league. “There’s currently no lane for us to bring him. It’s nice to know he’s there,” Cashman said. The general manager also urged Jasson Dominguez to knock off the rust before an opportunity for him eventually opens up in September when the roster expands. Hence, in the near future, Alex Verdugo, who is having the worst career season, will continue to split time at leadoff with Anthony Volpe, DJ LeMahieu and Jazz Chisholm Jr.

Alex Verdugo Defends Yankees’ Humiliating Loss Vs White Sox

In a fresh controversy stirred by Alex Verdugo, the outfielder defended New York Yankees ugly 12-2 loss to Chicago White Sox, who have been historically bad his season. They entered Monday with just 22 wins and possess the worst record in MLB. Yet, the White Sox emerged as the better team against a 70-49 team, the Yanks.

Having said that, Alex Verdugo refused to take accountability for the Yankee’s serious loss. He instead deemed it a normal bad day at the office that does not require any urgency. “They’re one of the worst teams if you want to put it that way. But these guys are still big leaguers,” Alex Verdugo said in the post-game interview.
