New York Yankees Stop Luis Severino From Leaving With A $15 Million Deal!

Yankees

After the conclusion of the season, the Yankees have more than enough questions to answer about their roaster in the next season. The team\’s most in-form and prolific slugger Aaron Judge has already headed to free agency after denying the 235 million dollar deal with the club. Now, Anthony Rizzo recently declined the offer and wants to step into the agency. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Yankees don\’t have more of their players to \”explore their options\”. According to the reports, the Bombers have exercised the club option worth $15 million for Luis Severino.

The Yankees Make $15 Million Deal With Luis Severino!

After Anthony Rizzo turned down his $16 million player option on Monday, the Yankees now formally have another opening to fill. After the first baseman blasted 32 home runs in his first full season in the Bronx, it was assumed that Rizzo would make this decision. Anthony, 33, is expected to sign a multiyear contract. But the back problems that kept him out of action several times in the second part of the season would probably lower his worth. Apparently, Rizzo might potentially sign a new contract if he becomes a free agency, according to general manager Brian Cashman\’s comments on Friday.

On the other hand, Luis Severino was not permitted to talk to any other teams by the New York Yankees. Cashman had previously stated that the Yankees would apply a $15 million deal to retain Severino\’s services until 2023. 28-year-old Luis Severino filled the second position in the rotation. Gerrit Cole was named the top starter in New York, followed by Severino and Nestor Cortes.

In 102 innings, Luis Severino finished the season with a 3.18 ERA. The Yankees, though, were unable to maintain the health of their bullpen. Severino was only one of several significant omissions. Due to an injury, he missed two months of action. Though he made a comeback in September, his two postseason starts ended in failure. Severino then surrendered six runs in 11 innings throughout the postseason.

Meanwhile, Frankie Montas is scheduled to return after a disastrous start to his career with the Yankees. The organization is hoping that a healthy shoulder would provide greater results than he did when the right-hander and Lou Trivino were traded from the A\’s at the trade deadline. There will be depth, thanks to Domingo German and Clarke Schmidt. However, the Yankees are expected to be looking to add a starter through free agency or trade.

In addition, on the Aaron Judge front, the team desperately wants him to stay. However, the American League\’s leading home run hitter will not comment on his plans. No agreement has been reached to retain Judge on the Yankees\’ roster. Among the clubs that have expressed interest in signing Judge are the New York Mets, San Francisco Giants, and Los Angeles Dodgers. Judge is expecting offers from other organizations.
