New York Yankees dynamic duo Aaron Judge and Juan Soto are rewriting the franchise’s history books with majestic offensive numbers this season. Stacked back-to-back in the hitting lineup, both the hitters complement each other’s aggressive style of play, resulting in profound success.

That being said, NBA analyst Stephen A Smith, often in news for his bold takes on basketball, claims to be a Yankee fan. Hence, during a TV show, Smith shared his opinion on New York Yankees popular duo Aaron Judge and Juan Soto. However, his analogy was factually incorrect which led to widespread trolling in MLB community.

Stephen A Smith Faces Backlash For Incorrect Aaron Judge-Juan Soto Analysis

Sports Illustrated

Stephen A. Smith, the outspoken sports commentator from ESPN, recently found himself in hot water after delivering an incorrect analysis involving New York Yankees stars Aaron Judge and Juan Soto. During a segment on ESPN’s “First Take,” was discussing Judge’s remarkable season and credited Soto for indirectly helping the captain. Smith stated that Judge gets to bat freely because he has Soto backing him up behind up. With Soto waiting in the wings, opposition pitchers are forced to pitch to Judge, which results in a surge in the number of at-bats for the captain. However, Smith was trolled massively by MLB fans as his analysis was factually incorrect. In reality, it’s Judge who is batting behind Soto at third and not the other way round.

Meanwhile, fans and baseball insiders were quick to point out the flaws in Stephen Smith’s argument. Sports media personalities and Yankees beat writers criticized Smith for not having a clear understanding of the situation, with some suggesting he should double-check his facts before making bold statements on a public platform. That being said, Judge and Soto’s partnership will place them in the ranks of some of Yankees greatest legends by the end of the year. So far, the duo has scored 88 home runs combined, with Soto unlocking a career-high milestone. However, with the regular season already being a success, the focus now shifts to a deep postseason run. As Derek Jeter said, regular season highs mean nothing if it does not result in a World Series ring. Hence, the New York Yankees will be required to break a sweat in October.

Yankees Can’t Let Judge-Soto Partnership Last Only A Year

The New York Yankees have one the most lethal hitting duos at their helm this season. Aaron Judge and Juan Soto’s number are eclipsing the legendary partnership of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Both have stacked up 88 home runs and 217 RBIs combined, with the month of September yet to unfold.

That being said, the dynamic duo of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto could break apart next season as the generational star is hitting free agency while aiming for a $500 million contract. Of course, the stakes are high but for championship sake, the Yankee front office must show courage and sign Soto for long-term which will definitely yield historic results in the future.
