The New York Yankees will be more or less active at the upcoming mid-season trade deadline, given visible gaps in the roster at multiple positions. From bullpen to infield to starting rotation, the Bronx Bombers have a lot to look after in order to secure a postseason finish.
That being said, while the New York Yankees are currently focused on the season, MLB insiders and analysts are busy stacking up trade proposals, some more realistic than others. However, Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller went overboard to suggest an outrageous trade proposal which could result in Yanks overpaying in exchange of one outfielder.
Yankees Linked To White Sox OF In Audacious Trade Proposal
Kerry Miller of Bleachers Reports stacked up a list of outrageous trade proposals, which included a three-team mega-deal involving the New York Yankees. As per the suggested idea, the Yanks would send OF Jasson Dominguez (No. 1 prospect), RHP Chase Hampton (No. 4 prospect), and LHP Brock Selvidge No. 10 prospect) to the Chicago White Sox and OF Alex Verdugo to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for OF Luis Robert Jr. from the White Sox and LHP Hoby Milner from the Brewers. Robert, often referred to as a five-tool player, has been a standout performer for the White Sox and is viewed as a cornerstone for any team aiming for sustained success. Hence, his addition can significantly boost the Yanks lineup.
However, this proposal seems a win-lose situation for the New York Yankees. The price for Luis Robert Jr., who has, in fact, yet to play over 100 games since 2021, is too steep. It isn’t ideal for the front office to give up the entire farm system just to unite with an injury-prone outfielder. Jasson Dominguez undoubtedly has had issues staying healthy. However, he still has the potential to produce something extraordinary in the long run for the franchise. The outfielder nicknamed The Martian proved why he was worth the hype last year during his major league debut. Hence, there is no reason for the Bombers to give up on him without exploring his full potential. Overall, the outrageous trade proposal is not worth the risk for the Yanks, who are already thriving with a 54-32 in Al-East and are almost confident of making it to the postseason.
Yanks Urged To Trade Gleyber Torres To Send Out A Strong Message
New York is a no nonsense place and hence MLB writer Bob Klapisch urged Yankees to not tolerate Gleyber Torres’ nonsense anymore. The second baseman’s numbers have been hideous throughout the year. Hence, Klapisch urged the front office to take strict measures and trade him at the deadline.
The MLB writer argued that trading Gleyber Torres would send a strong message to the rest of the crew to pull up socks and not take the job for granted. It will indicate that a deep house cleaning drive is on the way if the Yankees somehow miss out on a deep postseason run. “But if Cashman truly wants to make Boone’s life easier, he could dump Torres by the July trading deadline,” said Klapsich.
