The New York Yankees intend to make a splash this off-season. They are most likely to land a superstar offensive hitter who could partner up with captain Aaron Judge to become a lethal force. So far, the team has been strongly linked to San Diego Padres generational superstar Juan Soto.

Juan Soto, 24, is an established potent outfielder in MLB. At a very young age, the left-handed hitter emerged as one of the top-tier talents in the league. While the Padres and Yankees discuss the potential trade possibility, the Bronx Bombers have also been linked to multiple superstars simultaneously. However, a renowned MLB insider does not think the Yanks can land the Angels star, Shohei Ohtani.

Shohei Ohtani, the two-way Angels superstar, is set to become the most sought-after free agent in his upcoming off-season. The Angels’ inability to compete for a championship has frustrated the two-way star to seek a better opportunity elsewhere. Thus, he has decided to enter free agency in 2024, wherein his market value is expected to soar to $400 million. A lot of teams have emerged as potential suitors, including the New York Yankees. However, Jon Heyman of the New York Post does not believe Bombers have what it takes to land Ohtani. In a recent post, he wrote that while Ohtani loves to bat in the Yankee Stadium, the feelings are not that mutual with respect to pitching.

Thus, Heyman lowered the Yankees odds to 22-1. The Bronx Bombers’ odds ranked the eighth highest in the list of suitors for Shohei Ohtani. The Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Dodgers, and San Francisco Giants remained tied for the best odds, i.e. 6-1. The Yanks have remained heavily linked to Japanese ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto for a while now. He is expected to eat up a major chunk of the franchise’s payroll. Thus, the Yanks might not have enough money left to lure a disinterested Ohtani to the Bronx. Having said that, the Bronx Bombers are unpredictable. One cannot count them out until a deal is finalised. Overall, the fans can expect major drama to unfold during the upcoming decisive off-season.

City rivals New York Yankees and New York Mets’ common interest, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, has solidified his stance of joining MLB in 2024. He wants to take a big leap to compete on the biggest stage. Thus, the Japanese ace has decided to enter MLB free agency in 2024. Meanwhile, Mike Puma of the New York Post spoke to an anonymous person connected to the front office of a team. He revealed Yamamoto’s estimated market value for the bidding war.

The unnamed official claimed that Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s bidding war could begin in the $200 million range for a tenure of six to seven years. The Yankees shouldn’t have a problem with it, as they already have $200 million in bank savings for the ace. Also, as per rumours, the Bronx Bombers remain willing to match any offer to land Yoshinobu out of desperation. Thus, the city rivals will most likely clash this coming off-season.
