However, MLB analyst Eduardo Perez believes that without Michael King, the Soto wouldn’t have materialised in the first place.

However, according to MLB insider Eduardo Perez, one of the biggest reasons the trade worked for the Padres was Michael King, a pitching gem they received from the Bronx Bombers. King’s postseason performance this year has been nothing short of dominant, and Perez emphasized just how crucial he has been for the Padres’ success, particularly in a recent game against the Atlanta Braves. “He was able to throw strikes. He faced 26 hitters tonight, and 21 of them started 0-1,” Perez said. The ability to consistently get ahead in the count allowed King to keep the Braves’ offense off balance.
Perez insisted that the San Diego Padres have been the real winners of the trade with the New York Yankees. While Perez’s analysis of Michael Kings is partly true, Juan Soto has yet to sparkle his magic in the postseason. The Bronx Bombers earned themselves a bye for the ALDS after clinching the AL-East division. Hence, they will skip the wildcard series to directly face the Kansas City Royals in the ALDS starting on October 5 at Yankee Stadium. Given the success of the regular season, the Bronx Bombers will continue to rely on Aaron Judge and Juan Soto to generate offensive production. Soto, with one World Series ring already in the bank, is immune to postseason pressure. Hence, the Yanks aren’t worried about his form. If the generational star ends up leading the Bombers to a World Series title victory, the narrative around the off-season trade will shift drastically.
