Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees captain, has been hell bent on achieving a deep season run this year. He himself is leading the charge with a strong offensive season which places him in the front of the AL-MVP race. Hence, when a captain is leading from the front, he expects his troops to do the same.

The New York Yankees captain has always been a calm personality and widely known for being an extremely supportive teammate. However, he understands when he needs to take a stand and hold people responsible for their inexcusable gaffes. One similar incident unfolded on Tuesday as Yanks lost to Orioles.

Gleyber Torres Gets Rebuked By Captain Aaron Judge

The New York Yankees’ Al-East division victory hopes took a hit Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium, as a baserunning blunder by Gleyber Torres cost them a chance to tie the game. In the seventh inning of the New York Yankees’ 5-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles, Torres was caught in an inexcusable rundown that abruptly ended a promising rally, depriving Aaron Judge of a critical at-bat with runners in scoring position. After Juan Soto hit an RBI single to right field, Torres inexplicably tried to take home, believing Soto would be thrown out at second base. When the throw went home instead, Torres hesitated, finding himself in a rundown between third and home, thus resulting in a tag out.

Meanwhile, Gleyber Torres, who has been prone to such baserunning mistakes, took full responsibility for the costly error. Interestingly, New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge didn’t mince words, calling out Torres publicly. “When it comes down to it, stuff like that can’t happen. We can’t keep shooting ourselves in the foot,” Judge said. Notably, this wasn’t an isolated incident for Gleyber Torres. In his seventh MLB season, he continues to make rookie-like errors, both on the basepaths and in the field, where he’s accumulated 18 errors, the most of any second baseman this season. He’s also been thrown out at home eight times, tied for the most in the league. Despite his baserunning blunder, Torres has been the team’s hottest hitter, coming off a three-hit night that included a crucial RBI double. Yet his mental lapse proved costly as the Yanks failed to capitalize on the momentum generated by Soto’s hit.

Judge Continues To Shine With Commendable Home Run Spree

While the New York Yankees failed twice to clinch the AL-East division title, captain Aaron Judge continues to come through for the team with the bat. After a home run in the 5-3 loss, Judge went yard again on Wednesday with a three-run homer. His 57th season home run soared his RBI tally to 142.

With that, Aaron Judge is the first hitter since 2009 to score over 140 RBIs in a single season. After a 16-game home run drought, the New York Yankees captain is back to business with four home runs in four consecutive games. However, his team also needs to support him to avoid unnecessary losses in the final week.
