No doubt in saying that Mercedes never had the same season as 2022 in their entire career. This was the worst season the Silver Arrows ever had after the presence of Lewis Hamilton on the team. The year went more than worst and drastically dreadful for the seven-time world champion because it shattered the stunning streaks that he has been maintaining for 15 years. The year introduced the new ground floor rules, which helped Red Bull to rise and Mercedes to fall. Red Bull mastered adjusting to the rules also Ferrari succeeded, but Mercedes could only develop a car with porpoising issues.
With the porpoising problems of the W13, Lewis Hamilton finished sixth in the driver\’s standing. This was the first time when the Briton could not make it under the top 5 list. Yet, despite these negative results Mercedes is not being taken for granted by its fellow rivals and other F1 pundits. Instead, the team is being considered a threat to Red Bull, and Ferrari, and a strong comeback, is being prophesied by a former team boss.

According to Norbert Haug, the Silver Arrows will have 2023 as one of the best years of its career. This year, Mercedes might be out of reach of Red Bull but next year, Red Bull will have Mercedes as the toughest challenge. Norbert, the former Silver Arrows principal, believes that, unlike in 2022, the team will have a good start in 2023. And, this will decrease Ferrari\’s chance to stand strong and make a championship win.
Mercedes Proved They Can Make A Comeback At Interlagos
Ferrari is going to have a new team boss, as Mattia Binotto resigned. The Scuderia team now has Frederic Vasseur as the team\’s new principal. If Mercedes comes back stronger next season, then the very first year of Vasseur will become difficult.
However, these good predictions for the racing team are not meaningless. The team, in fact, has some proof that suggests a good setback for them. Like one can see how Lewis Hamilton faced the porpoising issues initially in the season. Also, George Russell struggled a lot in beating the other drivers which was just opposite to what he dreamed of happening being in Mercedes. However, the team did not let the driver down; they tried their best to figure out the problems of W13 and finally emerged with a final pride-saver upgrade in Austin. The team developed its front wings and made quite a progress.

In the United States Grand Prix, Hamilton finally battled with max Verstappen and got the second position on the podium. Also, in Mexico and in Brazil, what happened is already a milestone. Mercedes finally made its first win of the season with a one-two finish. In Interlagos, the W13 probably got wings, as the cars were not running; it was flying! George Russell clinched his maiden victory in formula one in Brazil, and Lewis Hamilton, for the first time in the season, overpassed the Red Bull cars.
The above event is enough for anyone to believe that Mercedes is capable of a strong return next year!
