In 2021 Max Verstappen won his maiden Formula One title with Red Bull racing. And once again, the dutch driver has secured an unattainable lead for the 2022 F1 world championship. He has proved himself to be an important asset for Red Bull. Previously, Verspapped signed a staggering 40 million per year deal with the company till 2028. However, despite this, former Formula One driver Mika Hakkinen believes that the driver may head to a different team in the future.
Max Verstappen To Move From Red Bull?
Verstappen extended his Formula One deal with Red Bull until the conclusion of the 2028 season, setting a record commitment to the Austrian team. Given the amount of time left, it is natural that the 25-year-old has expressed uncertainty about his future in Formula 1 after that point. However, the advancing calendar has made him unsure of how much longer he will want to continue in 2028.
Given the several conditions that would need to be met for that to occur, Mika Hakkinen believes that Max Verstappen won\’t continue his career at Red Bull. Last week in Japan, the Dutchman won the F1 world championship for the second time in a row, solidifying his place in sports history. Verstappen, only 25 years old, wants to win a few more titles before calling it a career. He began with Toro Rosso before switching to Red Bull. He has already spent the first eight years of his Formula One career.
Since his Formula 1 career began, Max Verstappen has been a part of Red Bull. He has assisted the team\’s growth and is currently a two-time Formula One world champion. He committed to the team for six years after claiming his first championship. However, Hakkinen believes that a team\’s current success does not guarantee that it will continue in the same direction in the future. Mechanics, technicians, and strategists are a few examples of the various elements that make up a team. Häkkinen thinks that a team\’s performance may vary significantly in the following years if the team\’s core is altered.
For Max Verstappen, leaving Red Bull at this point would be unthinkable. Red Bull is his ideal goal. However, towards the later stages of his career, the Dutchman may start looking for better chances to ease the burden and race quietly. Drivers have a history of switching teams in Formula One. After changing teams, even Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher saw most of their careers flourish. However, Verstappen has been with Red Bull for a considerable time and has won two championships. So it currently doesn\’t appear that way.
