The New York Yankees are favourites to advance to the World Series after a dramatic 8-6 victory in Game 4 of the AL Championship Series against Cleveland Guardians. A Game 3 loss did put them behind the clock. But a champion team like the Yanks found its way to turn the tide back in their favor.

Having said that, with 3-1 lead in ALCS, the New York Yankees are just 1 win away from advancing to the World Series which is the ultimate stage leading to the championship ring. However, despite being in a comfortable position, skipper Aaron Boone is cautiously keeping realistic expectations for Game 5.

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone remains cautious despite his team’s pivotal 8-6 win over the Cleveland Guardians in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS). The victory moved the Yanks to within one game of advancing to their 41st World Series, but Boone is determined to keep his players focused, reminding them there’s still work to be done. “There’s still a long way to go. We haven’t accomplished anything yet. We’ve put ourselves in a good position, but we can’t let our guard down,” Boone said in a post-game press conference on Friday. Needless to say, the skipper’s message is clear. The series isn’t over, and the Yanks must avoid complacency as they prepare for Game 5.

Moreover, his cautious approach comes from experience, knowing that momentum can shift quickly in the postseason, especially against a determined Cleveland team. Meanwhile, the New York Yankees, riding the high of their Game 4 win, benefitted from key offensive contributions. Giancarlo Stanton’s three-run homer in the sixth inning extended New York’s lead, while Juan Soto added a two-run shot in the first inning. These home runs have been crucial for the team, who have relied on their power-hitting stars to provide clutch performances throughout the series. Now, looking ahead to Game 5, Boone remains focused on the task at hand. While the Bombers are one win away from their first World Series appearance since 2009, Boone doesn’t want his team to get ahead of themselves. “We’re close, but we still have to get the job done,” he added.

Giancarlo Stanton’s postseason heroics have propelled the New York Yankees to within one win of their first World Series appearance since 2009, following an 8-6 victory over the Cleveland Guardians in Game 4 of the ALCS. After the game, Stanton emphasized the importance of staying grounded. “It feels like nothing until we get it done,” he said.

His mindset is one of focus, acknowledging that even though they are on the verge of the World Series, nothing has been achieved yet. Having said that, Aaron Judge may hold the official title of team captain, but Stanton’s influence in the clubhouse is undeniable. And with three homers already this postseason, the Yanks will continue to rely on Stanton for offensive help.
