Sir Lewis Hamilton is just not having the race he so desperately is looking for. It has been a long time since Hamilton won a race. The last Grand Prix win came in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in 2021. Since then, he has been losing races again and again. If the penultimate race of 2021 was memorable because of Hamilton’s last GP win, then the final race of 2021 in Abu Dhabi was just epic. The seven-time champion came so close to winning his eighth coveted championship. But lost the golden opportunity narrowly to the new current double-time champion, Max Verstappen.

Since then, it seems like the most successful racer in F1 has forgotten the formula to win a race. Nobody knows when the seven-time champion can end the drought. However, the condition of the W14 car does not look promising. Mercedes could not even beat Ferrari in the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday. Both Red Bull and Ferrari were faster than the Silver Arrows. However, what caught people’s attention was a collision between Lewis Hamilton and Oscar Piastri in the Grand Prix in Monza.

Later, Hamilton received a 5 seconds penalty. On top of that, Lewis was quick enough to apologize to Piastri for causing the damage to his McLaren car. Albeit, Hamilton managed to finish at P6 and gain 8 points. On the other hand, Piastri only managed a P12 finish. The seven-time champion was trying to make his way through the field after Curva Grande. However, he had a disappointing outing at the qualifying sessions on Saturday. It did not turn out to be way more exciting on Sunday, either.

After locking the wheels, the pair went straight to Variante della Roggia Chicane’s escape road. It ruined Oscar’s race as he had to pit immediately for a new front wing. Some fans believe a 5 seconds penalty is nothing but a joke. On the other hand, some Hamilton fans argue that they don’t get why the stewards gave him a penalty. Some fans are such nerds that they even wrote what the F1 rules state regarding collisions and penalties as well. Everybody had their own opinion on why Hamilton deserved a penalty or not.

Later, Lewis Hamilton told PlanetF1 it was essential to apologize because it was his fault. But it was not intentional. Moreover, Hamilton clarifies that he misjudged the gap in his right side after getting alongside Piastri. Adding to that, Hamilton mentioned that he believes it could happen at any time.

Moreover, Lewis Hamilton said after realizing his fault, he thought about doing the most gentlemanly thing to do. He went to Piastri to apologize for ruining his race and the McLaren car. Moreover, Lewis Hamilton really wants everybody to know that it was not his intention to do something like that. There might have been some issues with the medium tires compared to the harder ones. But it did not upset Lewis Hamilton.
