LeBron James has been the leading man on the Lakers side, carrying them throughout the season. The team suffered due to injuries and confusion in the roster. Anthony Davis was unavailable for a long time after he sustained an injury the last December. Until the time AD returned, it was James alone performing and keeping hopes alive for the Lakers.
However, the man who was leading the team from the front got injured and was ruled out for another couple of weeks. Since then, LeBron James has missed as many as six games. But fortunately for the Lakers, it did not cost them too much. Instead, the Lakers have won four out of those six games. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst feels Lebron James is keen to come back to help his team the best way he can. If James returns in the remaining 15 games of the Lakers, then they will be tough to beat.
When Can LeBron James Return To Help The Lakers Reach The Postseason?
The Lakers team has got an easy remaining fixture that they should capitalize on. They had reached the 9th seed after winning their last few games but fell back to 11th after losing on Sunday against the Knicks. Apparently, they could not hold on to their winning streak. But it will be interesting to see how the Lakers will perform with LeBron James back in the lineup with Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell. Although the latest information suggests that King may miss the rest of the regular season. He may try to come back to the postseason if the Lakers make it. The Lakers will need all the help they can get from their stars.
Against the Knicks, AD was not at his best. However, it has been due to Anthony Davis that the Lakers were winning the last few games. But on Sunday, it was Russell who was spectacular, but the team did not end up winning. Lately, these performances of his team have inspired LeBron James to recover as fast as possible. Only time will tell if he will play in any of the remaining regular games. The Lakers have proved that star power is less important than a balanced side. That’s what they are now. Darvin Ham‘s side will need to find another streak as soon as possible.
Previously, the team was not looking to climb up to the top anytime soon. But the match ticket prices of the Los Angeles franchise had skyrocketed ever since he came close to breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record. LeBron James finally broke the record against Oklahoma City Thunder, but the Lakers lost that game.
In other words, the Lakers’ games were only valuable to see until LeBron James became the all-time leading scorer after 38 years. The reason is the squad was unable to crack the top ten. At the moment, it looked like they would miss back-to-back postseasons. But after the February trade was over, the Lakers looked a lot better. LeBron James had enough help as well as Anthony Davis was also back in the lineup. It was going great for the Lakers until things fell apart again.
