Los Angeles Lakers fans were in shock when their favorites made it to the NBA playoffs despite all the odds. Initially, the squad was lagging majorly because of many situations. At the time, they were relying on Russell Westbrook, along with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, to turn things up in their favor. Coach Darvin Ham even tried to make things by bringing Westbrook from the bench. However, things started turning on the side after the crucial February trades.

With the involvement of young guns like D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Jared Vanderbilt, and Mo Bamba, the Lakers started leading the games. However, the in-between injuries of the stars, especially that of LeBron James, affected their games big time. In February, the Lakers ace suffered a severe torn tendon in his right foot. He even missed a month of action while the team was treading to pull the wins. However, James returned to contribute his part to the franchise and led as much as he could. And now, after getting eliminated, it is revealed that LeBron James was leading his squad while playing through his foot injury. And as a result, he will have to go through surgery now.

In the middle of a regular season game against the Dallas Mavericks, LeBron James fell on the court. The Lakers’ ace also asserted that he heard a pop. Though he finished the remaining of the game, he then missed 13 games to get over that injury. Moreover, when James returned to the squad, he revealed that doctors suggested him a season-ending surgery. But he, anyway, came back to fight for the Purple & the Gold Army. But now the season is over for the Los Angeles Lakers. And as per the recent reports, LeBron James’ foot will be once again evaluated in the coming days to check the requirement for surgery. And if he needs one, then the procedure will require him to get sidelined for at least two months.

Until now, it was expected that LeBron would return for the 2023-24 training camp with the Los Angeles Lakers, considering his decision to stay in the squad. This is because after getting eliminated from the Western Conference finals, the Lakers’ ace hinted towards his early retirement in a cryptic message. However, if he opts for surgery on his foot, then LeBron James will be absent from the training scheduler for the next season.

James Optimistic About His Foot Injury

After returning from the torn tendon injury, the Lakers ace mentioned that he is not able to play his best. At the time, he averaged 27.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 10 assists per game. Despite that, James believed that he would’ve scored better and more if his foot had healed entirely.

As LeBron James said, “I knew I could get to the finish line. Obviously, I knew I had to deal with it and the pain of not being able to be myself before the injury. But there was nothing that made me feel like I couldn’t get to the finish line.” After the season’s final game, King James also revealed that he will get an MRI on the injury soon and see how the tendon healed or not healed and go from there.
