With the New York Yankees exiting the 2024 World Series, generational talent Juan Soto is officially a free agent. The superstar had an excellent season in the pinstripes, where he scaled career-high numbers, and that will certainly help him achieve a few more bucks in the off-season.

That being said, the New York Yankees are in no mood to let Juan Soto. From his teammates to the franchise management, everyone made their feelings clear about wanting to see Soto sign an extension contract. However, what is brewing in Soto’s heart is still unknown. He recently poured his heart out in a candid chat.

Juan Soto, after a standout season with the New York Yankees that ended with a World Series loss to the Dodgers, is set to become one of the most sought-after free agents in MLB history. Just 26 years old, Soto brings immense value as a player who posted a .288 average, 41 home runs, 129 walks, and a .989 OPS in 2024, in addition to excelling in the postseason with a .327 average and four homers. He is also a Gold Glove finalist in the right field, which adds to his impressive resume. That being said, despite enjoying his time in New York and building strong chemistry with teammates like Aaron Judge, Soto has made it clear he will explore offers from all teams.

“I don’t know what teams want to come after me, but definitely, I’ll be open to listening to every single team,” Soto said. He emphasized that he is open to considering any situation and prioritizing joining a winning team. While the New York Yankees are interested in re-signing Soto, they’ll face strong competition from other big-market franchises. Having said that, Juan Soto also opened up on the emotional connection he developed with the Yanks and the impact of his time in New York. He admitted the difficulty of potentially leaving a successful team and praised the special environment within the Yankee clubhouse. “It’s been a blast for me. I’ve been really happy. If I’m here or not, I’m really happy for the teammates that I have and the people that I got to know in here,” he added. However, the reality is that he is bound to leave.

Aaron Judge expressed immense pride in Juan Soto’s performance during the 2024 season, highlighting not only Soto’s on-field success but also his relentless work ethic and dedication. “I’m proud of the year that Juan had,” Judge said. The captain fondly recalled how committed Soto was to his craft, as despite hitting .320, he would hit the cage late at night.

“Whatever he decides, whatever he and his family decide. He’s going to make the right decision for him,” Judge said on Juan Soto’s future. He added that having Juan Soto as a teammate was a privilege, and he is extremely lucky to have witnessed him unleash his true potential in the pinstripes. But what the future holds for Soto and the Yankees will remain a mystery.
