Warriors Defeat Lakers In The Opening Game Of The 22-23 Season!

The Golden State Warriors trounced the Los Angeles Lakers 123-109 on Tuesday night, giving them the perfect start to their NBA title defense. With 33 points, Stephen Curry led the Warriors in scoring, which is not surprising. In addition, he had six rebounds and seven assists. Meanwhile, with 20 points, Andrew Wiggins was as impressive for the Warriors as Klay Thompson, who scored 18.

After both teams got off to a slow start, which the lengthy ring ceremony might have caused. In the following quarter, the Warriors\’ offense finally clicked into place against Lakers. They raced out to a lead of as many as 14. Draymond Green was driving when Jordan Poole made a beautiful bounce pass to him for a layup. Nearly two weeks after Green hit Poole at practice on October 5, everything appeared to be going swimmingly for the reigning champs. Poole finished the game with 12 points and seven assists.

On the other side, LeBron James finished with 31 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists. And even though his left hamstring was strained, Russell Westbrook managed to score 19 points and grab 11 rebounds. Anthony Davis scored 27 more points. But the Lakers could not stop Stephen Curry and his team from putting up another one of their legendary third quarters that have become so iconic. Although it wasn\’t enough to keep the team from losing for the sixth time in a row on Opening Night.

Following a pair of backdoor cuts by Stephen Curry, Los Angeles went behind by a significant margin. It just got worse as Golden State Warriors kept heating up from the field. At the end of the stanza, the Lakers were fortunate to go on a brief run. Despite making a pitiful 3-for-21 from outside the arc, they trailed 59-52 at the break.

The Lakers made a ton of turnovers after that and could not make any field goals, so things quickly got out of hand. They would begin the season with a defeat as Darvin Ham emptied his bench with L.A. behind significantly. Apparently, Golden State is off to a perfect start as they attempt to win the championship again. This is still a good victory for the Warriors, who avoided any disappointment following their thrilling ring ceremony, even though the Lakers are not expected to be contenders this season.
