The Los Angeles Lakers have been going through a challenging phase since they won their 17th championship in 2020. But the team has never been short of talent. And the one who is securing huge fame for himself right now is none other than Austin Reaves.

As of 2021, they signed a contract with a promising talent from Oklahoma named Reaves. Despite the fact that the shooting guard joined the elite group consisting of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the purple and gold brigade did not have much luck. Last season, the Lakers could not make the postseason. The whole team is looking forward to not repeating the same mistakes and making necessary changes.

After these great performances in NBA in the current season, Reaves has gained fame across America as well as Europe. According to the latest information, the German Basketball team wants the Lakers’ shooting guard for the FIBA World Cup. Austin Reaves also mentioned that he is interested and has spoken to his teammate, Dennis Schroder, about it. Reaves also talked to the German National team’s coach, Gordon Herbert. As a matter of fact, Austin’s grandmother is German. Hence, he was eligible for German citizenship.

Austin Reaves is currently averaging 17.7 ppg, 3.0 rpg, and 5.3 apg. He is an excellent find for the Lakers. Meanwhile, Reaves acquired a German passport last year. Hence, the German team would be lucky to have him on their side. Austin’s brother, Spencer, plays for a German club, Brose Bamberg. To make the selection for the German national side, the Lakers star will have to register as a German national in the system of FIBA. At first, there needs to be a mutual agreement between the two parties, and then the registration would complete.

Reaves, although, has not performed exactly to his potential on the basis of the statistics. After the game against the Magic, D’Angelo Russell spoke about his Lakers teammate and that he was not surprised with Reaves playing so well in that game. Russell believes Reaves can do a lot better. Currently, the Lakers are the 10th seed after beating the Suns last night. And only nine games to go as the Lakers look to a top-six finish. After all the changes, the Lakers looked better than before.

In the midst of all these changes happening since February, the player who came in 2021 has caught the attention of many fans and experts. With LeBron James gone and Anthony Davis not fully fit, the Lakers were looking at the younger players to give their best. The February return of D’Angelo Russell to the Lakers also did not start well, as he got injured very soon and missed several games.

Amid all this chaos, the 24-year-old shooting guard, Austin Reaves, came into full bloom. In the last few games, he has been absolutely spectacular for the Lakers. After a well-fought loss to the Mavericks, the LA franchise was looking for redemption against the Magic. In that game, Reaves displayed the best scoring performance of his career with an impressive 35 points.
