Clearly, Juan Soto has started to look at the New York Yankees as his family. He has been playing for the NY side since April. Albeit, he had been playing through the spring training as well. On top of that, the Dominican slugger has always said that he feels at home in the Bronx. Perhaps it has something to do with the huge Dominican diaspora there. But maybe it is more than just that. Perhaps his teammates have done a great job in making him comfortable at the clubhouse. Moreover, his presence in the lineup has made a huge difference in the team’s offense.

Last year, the Bronx Bombers were relying too much on Aaron Judge as their only superstar slugger. Later, the captain suffered a severe toe injury that turned out to be a torn ligament. As a result, the 2022 AL MVP had to miss game time for almost a couple of months. This year, Aaron Judge can share the pressure of leading the offense with his partner in crime, Juan Soto. Both these superstar sluggers have been playing at the top of their game this season. After Thursday’s win against the Boston Red Sox, Soto sent a message to one of his teammates.

Juan Soto Sends A Message To Clay Holmes

Lately, the Yankees have a 2-0 lead in the four-game series against their archrivals, the Boston Red Sox. On Thursday, it was Juan Soto’s game-winning walk-off that sealed the deal for the Bronx Bombers. But in the post-game interview, the Dominican slugger wanted to give due credit to his teammate Clay Holmes. According to NJ Advance Media, the 2020 NL Batting champion mentioned that he was happy for the winning pitcher on Thursday. Soto’s message came after the hurler had gone through a lot of struggles in the last two months. Last week, Holmes lost his job as the closer. On Thursday, the pitcher came out in the 10th inning with the game on the line and picked up a couple of strikeouts with the go-ahead run on the second base.

That’s why Soto dished out high praise for Clay Holmes in public. The superstar slugger mentioned, “We’re family here at the end of the day. Everybody will struggle sometimes and do good sometimes. But no matter what, we must back each other.” Moreover, the Dominican slugger said that it is exactly what they have been doing this year. And with that sense of unity, they are able to stay at the best spot right now. Juan Soto feels very positive about the team environment right now.

Yankees Are Always Backing Holmes Even If The Fans Are Not

After Clay Holmes had his 11th blown save this season, the manager Aaron Boone had to answer a lot of questions regarding a change of closer. Later, the manager said they will be creative about the role of the closer. But then, the crowd booed Holmes at the Yankee Stadium when he replaced Tommy Kahnle.

In the post-game interview, Clay Holmes mentioned, “I play for some of the special guys we have in the clubhouse. Love competing with those guys, want to do my best for them.” Holmes heard the home fans but did not let it get to him. After all, he wants to impress his teammates and win games for the team.
