Juan Soto has undoubtedly been the anchor of the New York Yankees hitting lineup this year. Traded earlier this off-season, Soto is batting second, ahead of captain Aaron Judge and has provided a much-needed cushion to the rest of the lineup to do significant damage offensively.

However, Juan Soto hasn’t been immune to injury concerns at all this year. He sustained a low-level forearm strain last month, which fortunately healed after day-to-day treatment. Meanwhile, last weekend, Soto injured his hand in Toronto while making a sliding play in the outfield. Ahead of the Yankees home stand, skipper Aaron Boone shared a crucial update on Soto’s injury.

New York Yankees superstar slugger Juan Soto sustained bruises on his right hand when he made a sliding play last Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays. He was scratched off the starting lineup on Saturday, which raised alarm signals amongst the fans back home. Meanwhile, manager Aaron Boone confirmed on Saturday that Soto went through X-ray scans, which came back negative. However, he had significant swelling in the bruised area, and hence, the management decided to rest him for a day and allow the slugger enough time to rest and go through additional MRI and CT scans. That being said, despite no major scare, Soto was scratched off from Sunday’s finale lineup as well.

However, just 10-15 minutes before the first pitch was thrown, Aaron Boone mysteriously put him back on the lineup at his usual position in right field. When asked for an explanation behind the sudden turn of events, the Yankees skipper clarified that Juan Soto had trainers, doctors, and coaches’ approval with him when he barged into his office just a few minutes before the start of play. Boone asked him to reconsider as he didn’t want the generational star to compromise on the swing and jeopardize the future for the present. However, Soto was confident that he could contribute, and hence, the skipper had no choice but to include him back in the lineup. Meanwhile, the slugger is still experiencing swelling on the injured part of the hand and is facing trouble while catching in the right field on Sunday. Hopefully, the scheduled off-day on Monday is enough to help him recover in time for the home series.

Meanwhile, Juan Soto ensured that skipper Aaron Boone does not regret his decision to include him back in the lineup on Sunday as he contributed with a line drive single and scored on Aaron Judge’s home run in New York Yankees 8-1 in the series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Moreover, Juan Soto revealed that he faced no issues while swinging. However, he needs some more treatment to feel better in the outfield. Nevertheless, with the home series approaching, Soto is expected to resume playing as usual without any restrictions as the New York Yankees strengthen their playoff push halfway into the tournament.
