Lewis Hamilton is an acclaimed Formula One driver who holds the joint record of winning the most championship titles. He last won a championship in 2020 and has witnessed an unprecedented downfall ever since. Hamilton and Mercedes have struggled to retain their dominance as Red Bull became invincible.

Nonetheless, in the 2024 season, Mercedes aims to bounce back. Having said that, Lewis Hamilton is still hungry to win despite being in his late 30s. The Briton agreed to a two-year extension contract with the Silver Arrows earlier this year. While fans assume Lewis’ ultimate goal is the coveted eighth championship title, the former wants to achieve something bigger before he eventually retires.

Mercedes ace driver Lewis Hamilton has almost ticked every dream off his bucket list through an illustrious F1 career. While the record-breaking eight championship title still remains an impending achievement, the Briton wants to achieve something big before calling it quits. Hamilton confirmed his presence in F1 until he turns 40 by signing a two-year extension contract with Mercedes earlier this year. However, the future beyond that is still uncertain. Having said that, while the thrill and passion for racing continue to fuel Hamilton with motivation, he wants to achieve a big dream to give back to the community as the only driver of black ethnicity in the sport.

During the recently held Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton revealed how he is actively working with the FIA to get South Africa back on the F1 calendar. The Kyalami circuit last hosted an F1 race in 1993, where legend Alain Prost won his fourth and last championship with the Williams. Since then, the South African continent has disappeared from the calendar. Recently, FIA confirmed the sport won’t resume in South Africa anytime soon owing to the nation’s dubious stance on the Russia-Ukraine war. However, Lewis Hamilton won’t rest until he turns his dream into reality. “I would love for it to be in South Africa. They’re great sporting fans and are just petrolheads who love cars. I would love to go there; it would be absolutely insane,” Lewis Hamilton told BBC in 2015.

Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton’s confidence is yet to take a hit amid Mercedes’ incessant struggles. The team went winless this year as the W14 went from bad to worse. However, Lewis is still committed to giving his absolute best. In an interview, the British driver said that never once during this struggling phase, he thought of retiring. He believes in Mercedes bouncing back and reclaiming their lost dominance.

While the struggle period was difficult to endure, Lewis Hamilton will by no means leave his team hanging in dire conditions. Having said that, Hamilton has been visiting the Brackley factory to take a look at W15 development. Interestingly, the Briton is happy with the car as he feels his inputs have been used properly. Overall, Lewis cannot wait to drive the W15, which he thinks will be a beast next season.
