“It Is Baseball” Aaron Judge Defends Red Sox Starter After Throwing Right At Him

Aaron Judge, Yankees

JASON SZENES FOR THE NEW YORK POST

The New York Yankees will pray that Aaron Judge maintains his good hitting streak deep into the playoffs. Going into the playoffs, a lot will depend on the captain regarding their chances to make the ‘Big Dance.’ It has been a long time since the most successful side in the league made it to the World Series. The last time they did was back in 2009 when the Bronx Bombers won their 27th title. This year, the Pinstripes are depending on the offensive duo of the captain and the Dominican superstar. Both Aaron Judge and Juan Soto have been enjoying MVP-level seasons.

If they can continue the good form without getting into another slump, they can surely carry the team to the ‘Big Dance.’ Moreover, the Yankees will hope that the starting pitchers will get into a good rhythm ahead of the playoffs. Everything needs to fall into place for the Pinstripes to be the world champions again. But all eyes are on the captain, as usual, who should lead them to a title victory. Lately, in the series against their arch-rivals, the Boston Red Sox, things could have heated up when Brayan Bello threw right at Aaron Judge. But the Yankees captain remained unfazed.

Aaron Judge Said, “It’s Baseball,” After Bello Threw Right At Him

CBS News

On Saturday, Brayan Bello, the starting pitcher of the Boston Red Sox, almost hit Aaron Judge with a pitch. It could lead to another of those heated-up moments between the Yankees and the Red Sox. But then, the 2022 AL MVP handled the situation with a lot of class. He remained unfazed. The 2024 Home Run leader saw that Bello’s move as just another part of baseball. Moreover, the California native brushed off any speculation of that move being intentional. After Saturday’s game, as per Bleacher Report, Aaron Judge mentioned, “It missed. It’s baseball.” Adding to that, he said that there was nothing much he could do about it besides taking it and going to first.

He added, “It is what it is.” Later, on Sunday, the Yankees won 5-2 against the Red Sox. Hence, they also won the four-game series. In the fourth game of the series, Aaron Judge hit a 445-foot home run. It was his 53rd homer of the current season. He even carried his bat to the first base. In the post-game interview, the Yankees captain mentioned, “I thought I do it every time.” Moreover, he added that it is important to have fun when it’s a big game, big rival, and big moment. Hence, Judge feels, “It was a big home run as we are playing Boston.”

During an interview with Chris Kirschner of The Athletic, Aaron Judge mentioned, “I know the Red Sox is upset, and things like that happen.” Emotions run high every time there is one of the biggest rivalries in sports. The Yankees captain was trying to explain why he almost got hit on Saturday.

Adding to that, the California native mentioned that perhaps three of the Red Sox sluggers got hit as well. Moreover, Judge said he believes the Boston side was just trying to protect their players. He noted, “That’s the way policing works in this game.” However, the Yankees captain added, “But the most important thing is ‘Don’t Miss.'”
