Yuzvendra Chahal’s Career? 

Yuzvendra Chahal started his Cricketing journey when Mumbai Indians bought him ahead of the 2011 edition of the IPL. However, he only got to play one match throughout three seasons. Later, in 2014, Royal Challengers bought this youngster for his base price of INR 10 lakhs. 

   

Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, Chahal became a prominent member of the RCB’s squad. He is a wicket-taking bowler and helped RCB defend low total several times. Yuzvendra Chahal represented Royal Challengers Bangalore till 2021. But ahead of the mega-auction of IPL 2022, the franchise released him. His base price was INR 2 crores in the auction. And eventually, Rajasthan Royals bought Chahal for INR 6.5 crores in the bidding war. Chahal even took a hat-trick and five-wicket haul against KKR in the 2022 edition of IPL. As a result, his performance helped Rajasthan Royals reach the finals of the tournament. 

Talking about International games, Chahal made his ODI and T20I debut in 2016 against Zimbabwe. In 2017, he became the very first bowler for India to take five wickets in T20Is. In the same match, he also became the second bowler ever to take a six-wicket haul in T20Is. He even became the first player ever to win the Man of the Match award as a concussion substitute. 

Why Yuzvendra Chahal Stopped Playing Chess? 

As we stated above, Yuzvendra Chahal is the only player to represent India in both Chess and Cricket. He was a part of the World Youth Chess Championship. Not only that, Chahal is still on the official site of the World Chess Federation, and his current rating is 1956. However, Yuzvendra Chahal decided to quit this game as he failed to get any sponsors. Without the sponsorship, he struggled a lot and then finally bid farewell to the game. This was seemingly the end of one journey but also the beginning of another. After quitting Chess, Chahal shifted his complete focus to Cricket.

His father revealed that the Income Tax Department offered Yuzvendra Chahal the position of inspector for his contributions to the Indian Cricket team. Chahal’s father also revealed an interesting story and the reason behind Chahal wearing normal spectacles while fielding. According to him, Chahal’s eyesight is not weak. But the experts advised him to wear these glasses when he underwent medical tests. These tests were mandatory before he start his new job as an Income Tax Inspector.
