IPL 2022: Chennai & Mumbai Likely To Retain MS Dhoni & Rohit Sharma, Rahul Might Lead Lucknow

According to the latest reports, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians will likely retain their respective captains Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rohit Sharma ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. It hasn\’t been confirmed officially. However, if this happens, no one will be surprised as Rohit Sharma and Mahendra Singh Dhoni are two of the most successful captains in IPL.

Initially, some speculations were going around that CSK would send MS Dhoni to the mega auction so that they could get a bigger purse. However, it would be a bit shocking as Dhoni led CSK to four IPL titles, including the one from the most recent edition. Along with the Captain Cool, the Chennai Super Kings might also retain their ace all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Now, it will be interesting to see who the franchise will choose between Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali as an overseas player.

   

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians will certainly retain their five-time IPL winning captain and exceptional opener Rohit Sharma. Along with him, the franchise will likely retain their main pacer Jaspreet Bumrah as well. There is a possibility that they might decide to keep Ishan Kishan with him too for the next few years. However, it is still unclear whether Kieron Pollard will continue his journey with the most IPL winning team or not.

Delhi Capital will also retain its current captain, Rishabh Pant. The future of Shreyas Iyer with the franchise is still unclear. The owners of Delhi Capitals also have to make a hard choice between Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje. Whereas Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell will still play from the side of Banglore. Now, it will be exciting to see who will be the other two players. They have to choose two players among Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammad Siraj, and Devdutt Padikkal. Rajasthan Royals will retain Sanju Samson. Jofra Archer might also join this dugout again as an overseas player.

It seems like Punjab Kings will make a shocking decision to let go of one of the best T20 batsmen, KL Rahul. If this happens, then Rahul will likely lead one of the two new franchises. According to the rumors, the owners of Lucknow have a keen interest in him. Hence, they will try their best to get him on their team.

BCCI hasn\’t announced the date for IPL 2022 mega auction, but it will likely take place in the first half of January. According to reports, each team will get a purse value of 90 crores that they can use to buy players.
