Aaron Judge and Juan Soto are doing their best to raise hopes in the Bronx for their 28th World Series win. It has been a long time for the New York Yankees since they reached the “Big Dance.” The last time they did was back in 2009, when they actually won the whole thing. That was their 27th World Series victory, and since then, the fans in the Big Apple have been waiting for the next one. After 15 years, the wait might be over, as the Yankees have a good chance to end the title drought.

Finally, they have an offensive duo that’s raising their hopes again. However, the Judge-Soto duo might be a team only for this year as the Dominican slugger might move elsewhere next offseason. Until then, this duo has been frequently drawing comparisons with the legendary Yankees pair of Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth. Lately, the Judge-Soto pair has managed to duplicate the 1930 feat of the Gehrig-Ruth pair.

For sure, the regular season has so far gone according to the plans of the Yankees in some respects. Then, there are also those facets that could have been better. Nonetheless, the Judge-Soto pair has done enough so far to lift up a franchise that is looking for redemption after a terrible 2023 season. Recently, OptaSTATS shared information on X, previously called Twitter, that suggests the superstar duo has equalled a record of the franchise great duo of Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth. Juan Soto and Aaron Judge have not yet played together for a whole season. But they have been reaching several franchise great feats. Lately, the Judge-Soto duo has combined to reach base safely 427 times this season.

The last pair to do so in the major league with more H, BB or HBP just before entering August was the great Gehrig-Ruth duo of 1930. That year, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig reached base safely 436 times for the Yankees. After almost a century, the Yankees have found a similar pair that can replicate the glory of the old days. Many experts and fans claimed that the team needed to land Juan Soto in the offseason. At present, the Judge-Soto duo has proven those pundits right with their performance and notable chemistry. Now, the question remains if this duo is able to bring in the franchise’s 28th title success.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. Might Resemble The Role Of Tony Lazzeri Back In 1927

Other than Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, the Yankees’ offence has not been really firing. But the late admission of Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Miami Marlins has looked really promising so far. Perhaps to bolster their offence, the Judge-Soto duo needed another fresh support to make the lineup look more threatening. Here, Jazz can play the version of Tony Lazzeri to go with the modern take on the Gehrig-Ruth pair.

They can lay a foundation for an offense that can stay on top for the whole next decade. These offenses can ignite great title runs. The trio of Gehrig, Ruth, and Lazzeri still gets the credit for being the best Yankees offense with the famous 1927 “Murderer’s Row” lineup.
