Christian Horner and Toto Wolff always poke each other every time they get a chance. The two F1 team principals have the best records in the sport. Although Toto is a little bit ahead as Mercedes had the longest dominating streak in F1 history from 2014 to 2021. But Red Bull dominated from 2010 to 2013 and again from 2021 to the present period.

The billionaire Austrian team principal of Mercedes has won eight straight constructor’s titles and seven straight driver’s world championships. On the other hand, Christian Horner with Red Bull has won five constructor titles and six driver’s championships. However, the way they are performing this year, it looks like Horner may get closer to his rival’s record. Amid this, Horner has once again discussed his “dear, dear” friend Toto Wolff in a way nobody has ever thought of.

Christian Horner Says His Rival Is BLOCKED

Every year this duo’s rivalry gets even more intense. Neither of the two leaves any chance to take a jab at one another. Their intense rivalry has often been shown in the Netflix documentary Drive To Survive. Recently in a podcast interview with Pardon My Take, Christian Horner once again mentioned his rival, Toto Wolff. As he stated, “I think Toto’s blocked. I mean, look, it’s good to have healthy competition in any sport.” Red Bull’s boss said that Mercedes is a good team and they have done a lot of winning in their time. “But it is our time, and we are doing our thing.” Christian Horner went on to assert that it is boring when everybody likes and loves each other and whatever. A fierce rivalry is essential to work as a motivation for people in a sport, according to Christian Horner.

This rivalry further got intense last year in a team principal’s meeting when Toto Wolff was upset about other teams talking about the porpoising issues faced in the Mercedes car. In a meeting with F1 CEO Stefano Domenicalli, Christian Horner replied to his rival, “Change your f****** car. You’ve got a problem with your car. Fix it.” That was an instance where things got a little bit serious. However, the two rivals share banters as well during press conferences and stuff. After Franz Tost, ex-principal of Alpha Tauri, the sister team of Red Bull, announced his retirement, Toto jokingly told Horner, “You are next in line to go. That would make our life so much easier.” Everybody had a great laugh about that. Hence, it is not only about firing bullets at one another. But also having light moments is essential between rivals of any sports or in life.

Toto And Christian Dominated The Sport For More Than A Decade Together

If Red Bull gets to build a streak like Mercedes, then Horner might surpass Wolff very easily in the following years. But the two bosses have fierce rivalry between them. Mercedes broke Red Bull’s streak in 2014, and in 2021, Red Bull broke the German team’s. For the last thirteen years, it has been either Mercedes or Red Bull’s dominance on the grid.

However, Ferrari is another powerhouse in the sport but could not beat either of them to win a title in the last decade. Hence, Toto Wolff and Christian Horner are by far the most successful F1 team bosses in the 21st century.
