The New York Yankees had a terrible season this year. They had been looking to redeem themselves this offseason. Very early in the offseason, the Bronx Bombers hinted at big changes coming up. They needed to stabilize the roster ahead of the next season. That’s what they have been doing really well so far. Certainly, the big news for the NY side is that Juan Soto is on their roster for at least a year.

It is still not certain if the Dominican hitter would like to extend his stay in the Bronx. Anyhow, the Yankees needed to upgrade their offense, and they successfully did. Moreover, the 27-time champions should also try to sign former Yankee David Robertson. Moreover, it can really help their bullpen look more solid. Now, it kind of looks a bit shaky.

But D-Rob is not as young as the Japanese anymore. Currently, he is 38. Hence, the question is how much effective can he be with the ball. At present, the Yankees Nation are thinking D-Rob is again a free agent and perhaps third time is really the charm. Since he departed from his second free agency, he came close to sign a deal with the New York Mets. Anyway, he came pretty close to return to home. But the Mets traded him to the Miami Marlins. However, David Robertson did not take his skills and knowledge to the South Beach. He came very close to sign with the Yankees.

Lately, D-Rob also played for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago Cubs. In fact, they split Robertson between themselves. Hence, he is still a reliable reliever. Now, the fact is the Yankees had a shaky bullpen for a long time. Albeit, they will have a high payroll in 2023. But David Robertson had a great time while representing the Pinstripe. Hence, for an old time’s sake, the Bronx Bombers can try to have faith in D-Rob. The Pinstripe Alley can even argue about the NY side signing David Robertson for a 30-year deal.

The NY Side Is Still A Top Contender To Land Yamamoto

At present, the Bronx Bombers look pretty strong from their outfield lineup’s point of view. Things started to look different after they signed Juan Soto. But to land Soto and Trent Grisham, the NY side had to trade a lot of pitchers and catchers to the San Diego Padres. Anyway, the Bronx had a very shaky bullpen from the start of the offseason. But they do have a lot of pitchers.

However, Brian Cashman mentioned in the GM Meetings in Arizona that other than two lefty sluggers, they are also on the lookout for a superstar pitcher. Moreover, the Yankees are a top contender to sign the recently posted Japanese superstar pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The 25-year-old Japanese pitcher is in pretty high demand. Hence, the Yankees will have a tough fight against teams with bigger cap space. However, if they get to sign Yamamoto, then fans can claim they had a successful offseason.
