Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson made the Golden State Warriors an NBA powerhouse in the last decade. Without the Splash Brothers, it is hard to imagine the Dubs winning four or more titles in ten years. Along with Draymond Green, the Splash Bros helped the team from the Bay Area become a modern-day Dynasty. From 2015 to 2022, this special trio won four NBA championships with the GSW. But their journey with the same franchise began a few more years prior to the 2014-2015 season. Stephen Curry has been an integral part of the Dubs organization since 2009. Then, Klay Thompson joined the franchise in 2011.

Later, in 2012, Draymond Green came into the Warriors roster. The Dub Nation really thought that this trio would retire wearing the GSW uniform. But things went upside down due to the 2023-2024 season failure. The veteran shooting guard was a free agent & chose to sign with the Dallas Mavericks for a three-year deal worth $50 million. It has been a shock for the Golden State Warriors – players as well as fans. Thompson ended the 13-year iconic journey with the team. Steph Curry doesn’t seem to get over the news.

The three-point King is busy with his Team USA practice for the upcoming Paris Olympics. Hence, the news of his Splash bro leaving the team will take some time to really sink in. After recent practice with Team USA, Stephen Curry told the media, including Sportskeeda, that he still can’t imagine that Klay Thompson won’t be in the same locker room next NBA season. He mentioned, “It feels like he will still show up next October.” Moreover, Curry said that they have been doing this together for thirteen years. Hence, not having his splash bro in the same locker room “Hasn’t quite sunk in.” When the official confirmation came out that the Warriors traded Klay to the Dallas Mavericks, the three-point King posted a heartfelt tribute.

Curry wrote, “Thank you for everything, brother. We’re Splash Bros for life.” He also mentioned that he could not imagine a better run with Green and “Killa Klay.” The three-point King mentioned that this run changed the Bay Area forever, as well as the game. Moreover, Steph credited Klay, saying he was at the centre of it all. Finally, Stephen Curry mentioned that he will miss his splash bro but wants him to continue to enjoy playing basketball. The Warriors let one of their franchise icons go to the Mavs. Now, the whole Bay Area will miss “Killa Klay.”

Talking to the media, Steph added that he envisioned riding out to the sunset with those “Two guys.” Moreover, he wanted to stay relevant from the perspective of winning. But now he will have to process the information that his splash bro will play for the Mavs. Hence, he said, “It really sucks.” Stephen Curry mentioned that it is hard to process because he never thought it would be a reality.

Now, Green and Curry will have to deal with the fact that there is no “Killa Klay” in the locker room. It will be a tough transition for the Dubs organization. But the reports suggest that Thompson asked Curry not to lobby for him. Now, adding Klay to the roster makes the Mavs favourites again to win the next season, as they were the runners-up last time.
