The New York Yankees second half of the 2024 season has been shaky and concerning if not unacceptable. With veterans continuing to show signs of decline, the Bronx Bombers are struggling to adapt against tough teams. Moreover, with just 22 regular games left on the cards, sun is setting for Yanks.

After three back-to-back series losses, the New York Yankees lost AL-East first place to the Baltimore Orioles. While the situation is volatile and worrying, captain Aaron Judge had a soft reaction to the Yanks’ past 81 games record. He insisted on fighting back rather than dwelling on what’s happened in the past.

Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees’ captain, has voiced his determination to turn the team’s fortunes around after a disappointing record in the second half of the 2024 season. The Yanks past 81 games record stands at 40-41, and with the latest series loss to Texas Rangers, the team lost AL-East place to defending division champions Baltimore Orioles. Meanwhile, Judge, as a leader, acknowledged the tough position the team is in but emphasized that there is still plenty of fight left in them. Speaking to the media after a recent game, Judge refused to directly comment on the abysmal record. However, he did encourage his teammates to continue fighting back with 22 games left on the schedule.

“This team’s got a lot of fight. We have a lot of good players in here. It’s just about us going out and doing it,” Judge said. Meanwhile, Marcus Stroman, who blew his start against the Rangers on Wednesday, stated that the Yank’s 40-41 record is not a concern. He revealed that the Bronx Bombers are process-oriented, and a few bad stretches won’t impact the clubhouse atmosphere. Additionally, Yankee manager Aaron Boone believes that his team can turn things around in the next 22 games and that it’s all about grabbing the opportunities at the right time. “We got to play our best ball and put our best foot forward,” Boone said. Overall, with just three weeks remaining, the Yankees will need to find consistency and resilience to climb back into playoff contention before time eventually runs out.

Aaron Boone-Alex Verdugo Clash Over Health Status

As Alex Verdugo continues to plummet to an all-time career low in terms of offensive performance, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone suggested that perhaps the slugger is beat up. Boone added that Alex is playing hard each day, and the 162-game stretch has perhaps led to fatigue. Notably, Verdugo was seen getting treatment on his back earlier this week.

However, the left fielder suggests that he is healthy. Now the fans can figure out themselves whom to believe. But Alex Verdugo’s time in Bronx appeared numbered, especially with Jasson Dominguez waiting in the pipeline with impressive Triple-A numbers. The next two weeks should carve a clearer picture as fans’ pressure over Dominguez’s promotion is increasing every day.
