Only two races are remaining in the 2022 Formula One World Championship season. However, there has not been a single Grand Prix win for Mercedes yet. As a result, the team is trying out new things and updates wherever and whenever possible. The Silver Arrows also employed a new tactic in the Mexican Grand Prix last week. However, their new strategy did not land well with the driver George Russell. He expressed his discontent about it over the team radio. But his rant on the team radio has led others to criticize the young Briton.

George Russell Criticized For His Radio Rant After The Mexican Grand Prix!

In anticipation of their potential to challenge Red Bull all the way, the Silver Arrows experienced intense emotions at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. George Russell and Lewis Hamilton failed to finish first in a Grand Prix in 2022. And this specific track had the qualities to make their car perform at its peak.

The pair qualified well and were positioned second and third for the race on Sunday. Despite the lack of excitement at the Mexican Grand Prix, Red Bull prevailed in a game of tire-compound chess, with Hamilton taking second and Russell slipped to fourth. After that, Russell could be heard on team radio begging for his medium stint to be prolonged before the tire change. He was heard criticizing the team\’s choice after he was on the hards despite being repeatedly assured that they were anticipating Red Bull to have to pit their drivers again.

The hard-compound tire was switched to halfway through the race, which George Russell lamented. And hinted that he could enter again to adopt a more aggressive tactic to those listening on the team radio. Although the child voiced his opinions, he ultimately obeyed his team\’s directives and came in fourth, missing the podium.

Later, in a Monday interview with Any Driven, Jensen Button said that his attention should have been confined to the track. Former F1 world champion Jenson Button has cast doubt on George Russell\’s claims over the team radio in Mexico after a disastrous Mercedes tire strategy.

In an effort to increase their chances of finishing the race, Mercedes bet on hard tires. They had the idea that when Red Bull did pit again, they would take over the lead. However, they never did because they took good care of their tires. Making it impossible for Russell and Lewis Hamilton to pass them. Early on, it appeared as though the Silver Arrows had chosen the most effective course of action. It appeared doubtful that the Red Bulls would be able to finish the race without making at least one more pit stop. They found it difficult to break away despite having faster tires.
