DH/Catcher Gary Sánchez sparks New York Yankees reunion rumors with an interesting workout video.

New York Yankees are set with a stellar bullpen for the 2023 MLB season. The club’s spring training session is already underway, as the pitcher and catchers reported at Tampa base on Thursday. The existing bullpen, along with a few fresh faces, were seen practicing and gaining the lost rhythm. FYI, the Yanks begin their official spring training campaign on February 25 against Phillies.

The Yankees are almost done with the off-season as they spent more than they should and will now face luxury tax regulation. However, an ex-Yankee player has sparked reunion rumors with a strange video on social media. The video has been widely shared online, and the fans are puzzled. As of now, no official word has come out from either of the involved parties.

Gary Sánchez Works Out Wearing Yankees Kit, A Possible Reunion On Cards?

Gary Sánchez

New York Yankees parted ways with catcher Gary Sánchez ahead of last season after trading him to Minnesota Twins in exchange for Josh Donaldson, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, and Ben Rortvedt. Gary, who started his baseball career with the Yankees in 2015, failed to leave a mark in his six-year association with the organization. He hit just .186 in the 2021 season, with a .320 on-base percentage and 22 home runs. As criticism around his inconsistent performance rose, the Yanks decided to immediately cut ties with the catcher.

However, a possible reunion could be on the cards a year later. Gary Sánchez recently posted a video featuring him sweating it out in a workout session on his personal social media handle. However, one minor detail caught the eye of the fans and led to instant speculations. The catchers apparently donned a jersey embedded with New York Yankees official logo. Furthermore, the fans quickly picked it up and are intrigued to know if the Bombers’ are planning for a possible reunion with the catcher. While no official word is out yet, the trade seems highly unlikely at the moment, considering the density of the Yanks’ bullpen.

Yankees Begin Spring Training As Injury Concerns Cripple

Amid heavy injury concerns, the New York Yankees have begun spring training at George Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida. The pitchers and catchers took the field on Thursday and did short practice sessions. Moreover, a few non-defensive players too joined the camp a little early. Notable names such as Aaron Judge, Carlos Rodon, Gerrit Cole, DJ LeMahieu, and others were spotted doing field practice.

In the midst of training sessions, injury concerns are creeping into the Yankees camp. Till now, the Yanks have already lost two of their five pitching starters. Frankie Montas and Nestor Cortes are under rehabilitation due to their respective injuries. While Cortes could regain fitness during opening day, Montas’ participation in the upcoming season looks dicey. Further, a young prospect, Austin Wells, is not participating in any baseball-related activities due to bruises on his ribs. His availability is also under the radar for now.
