The New York Yankees made several changes in their roaster this off-season. Moreover, along with the roaster, the Bombers overhauled the front office staff as well. In a move to strengthen the front office, the Yankees brought in Brain Sabean as an official advisor to general manager Brian Cashman. Interestingly, Sabean started his career with the Yankees and will now reunite with the club after 30 long years.

Furthermore, the Bronx Bomber added Omar Minaya to their front office as a senior advisor to Baseball operations. Omar previously served the Mets as a general Manager. Thus, Sabean and Omar will together serve Cashman as advisors. The club seems to have emphasized the staff working behind the scenes as well and not just the on-field roaster. However, a former MLB scout has spoken out against the Yankees and accused the club of mistreating the scouting staff.

Former MLB Scout Hits Out At Yankees, Later Praises Them For Bringing Sabean, Omar On Board

MLB insider, Ken Rosenthal, made an attempt to evaluate the Yankee’s strategy of bringing in more officials for the front office. He spoke to the Yankee general manager, Brian Cashman. Cashman said that the Bombers have always maintained a balance between personal scouting and computer analytics. Moreover, he assured that the arrival of Sabean and Omar does not necessarily mean that the club will go back to its old approach.

However, a former MLB scout gave an anonymous tip to Adam Weinrib of Yankgoyard. The scout claimed that the arrival of Saben would have a much bigger impact on the Yankees than Aaron Judge. He further went on to say that Sabean will control the front office officials. Moreover, the scout also claimed that the Yankees have not been treating the scouting officials with dignity in the past. Hence, Sabeam can help them in getting the respect they deserve.

“Sabean bigger signing than Judge for Yanks. He will control the nonsense from the front-office nerds,” said the former scout.

In the latest addition, New York Yankees have added former Mets general manager Omar Minaya as a senior advisor to Baseball operations. Omar will team up with Brian Sabean and assist Brian Cashman in the front office. Moreover, both Omar and Sabean have vast scouting experience and will be a crucial addition to the Bombers.

Meanwhile, Omar spoke to the media after the announcement and praised Yankee’s assistant GM, Michael Fishman, for developing one of the best analytical departments. Moreover, he promised to bring a personal approach within the organization wherein people’s contributions are well appreciated.
