Every Formula One fan is aware of Lewis Hamilton & Mercedes’ reign. There was a time when outfits other than the German racing team were in contention just to secure the second-best position in the competition. This is because they knew Hamilton would undoubtedly take away the World Championship title. The Briton switched to Mercedes from his maiden team McLaren in 2013. Since then, he never looked back and cliched the titles and records one after the other.
Except for one with McLaren, Hamilton has won six championship titles with Mercedes. Not only that, he is all fired up to secure his eighth world championship title. With that, he will become the Formula One driver with the most championship titles under his name. And now, the knight has confirmed that he will continue his stay at Mercedes till the last, despite anything.
Lewis Hamilton Will Stay With The Silver Arrows, For Life
This year came out a little unexpectedly for the top track racing team. Mercedes was unable to secure even a single race win this year, let alone the contention for the world championship title. So, all this spurred some speculations that Lewis Hamilton will leave the German racing team after his contract ends at the end of 2023. However, Hamilton has now come forward to pull down all the rumors once and for all. The seven-time world champion revealed that his goal was always to be with Mercedes. Hamilton pointed out, “I love that we have the long partnership we have. I feel like we are embarking on a lot of really positive things. I think there’s a lot of work, a lot to accomplish together, so I want to be a part of that.”
The Briton then commented a big statement that he’ll always be with Mercedes until the day he dies. Hamilton also mentioned that he could race for quite a bit longer, like 400 races or so. Therefore, he is looking forward to that.
Hamilton’s Purpose Is To Elevate People
Since his debut with McLaren, Lewis Hamilton has been associated with various segments of society that still need attention. He himself is the first and so far the only black driver to race in the series. Therefore, on many platforms and instances, the Briton has raised his voice for inclusivity of the people of color in the Formula One fraternity. He has also stressed the aim of elevating people around him and making a difference in society. And for that, Lewis Hamilton founded Mission 44 “to disrupt the status quo and build a fairer society.”
While discussing the issue, Lewis Hamilton pointed out that he desperately wants to surpass the seven titles. This is because no driver in history has ever gone past that. However, he reckoned that as one age, they realize that the journey is the most important part and the ride they take with all the people. “There’s an opportunity to elevate lots of people, not only in your team but with the work that we’re doing, with Mission 44 – there’s a much bigger picture to it,” explained the seven-time world champion.
