The Red Bull squad has been in deep trouble since the Miami GP. The reigning world champion is on an eight-race winless streak, which has disrupted its domination. Moreover, the RBR’s F1 development appears to be in reverse gear, as the team has failed to solve the issues. McLaren has outpaced the Bulls on the Constructor’s Cup leaderboard as an amalgamation of all the troubles. In the meantime, Lando Norris is trailing Max Verstappen by 52 points in the WDC race.

Every race since the Miami GP has brought some hardship to the camp. From internal conflicts to technical issues, the defending champions are definitely on the back foot. However, the RBR chief Christian Horner believes the technical crew has identified the issues and is working in the right direction. The Briton recently pinpointed the nadir of his team’s downturn, highlighting the key learnings from the horrible outing.

Christian Horner Reveals Monza Exposed The Root Cause Of Red Bull’s Misery

PlanetF1

On a tricky street circuit of Monza, Red Bull suffered a terrible blow. Until then, the Monaco outing was the worst of the season, where RB20 bounced like a ‘kangaroo.’ However, the Italian GP unlocked the new rock bottom for the Milton Keynes-based outfit as its vulnerabilities were exposed. The RBR’s care was severely off-balance, as Max Verstappen finished in the sixth spot. Christian Horner discussed Red Bull’s Monza nightmare during a media interaction. He admitted the team could already see the issue, but Monza exposed the root cause of all the technical woes. Therefore, Horner marked Monza as the lowest point but emphasized the team is ready to rise from the ashes.

Since the Italian GP, Red Bull has picked up pace. Although the drastic change is not apparent, Perez was a podium contender till his end in Azerbaijan. Verstappen also bagged the Singapore podium despite an off-balance car. These subtle upturns might not go unnoticed, but they depict the team heading in the right direction. Even Horner believes the team is back on track. Although he expected the 22-second defeat in the Singapore GP to be a major setback, the performance will improve with the new floor upgrade in Austin. He further noted that the team can bring a meaningful upgrade as they are aware of the problems. The Briton also believes that McLaren is the benchmark car as of now, but the Bulls are working day and night to regain the top spot.

Despite their lackluster form, the Bulls are not giving up on the double trophy dream. The team won the Constructor’s Cup and Driver’s Cup in 2023. However, McLaren leads the constructor’s chart, while Lando Norris is the frontrunner to dethrone Max Verstappen.

However, Christian Horner affirmed the team will fight till the end as they refuse to give up on the world title dream. With six rounds to go, Horner remains optimistic that the team could still score maximum points.
