The teams last met in the 1981 World Series, and this 2024 meeting revives a historic rivalry that has captivated baseball fans for decades. Notably, the Yankees and Dodgers first squared off in the World Series back in 1941 when the Dodgers were still based in Brooklyn. That series set the tone for their future meetings, with the Bombers dominating many of their early encounters. Between 1941 and 1956, the Yanks won five consecutive World Series against the Dodgers, but the Brooklyn team finally claimed their first championship in 1955 with a thrilling seven-game victory. The rivalry continued after the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles in 1958, with notable clashes in the 1963, 1977, 1978, and 1981 World Series. The Yankees took the crown in the first two meetings, but the Dodgers claimed their first World Series as an L.A. franchise in 1963 with a sweep.
