After securing Aaron Judge in a nine-year deal, the New York Yankees have the opportunity to land another generational star this off-season. Of course, it’s just wishful thinking for now, as the San Diego Padres are yet to reveal their stance. But if they actually want to cut off the payroll of $50 million, putting Juan Soto on the trade block would be an inevitable move.

The New York Yankees have sensed an opening here. While conflicting reports have emerged over the alleged preliminary talks held between the two teams, it’s only a matter of time before the fans get a confirmation. Having said that, Yanks’ reservations with regard to top-tier prospects could stall the blockbuster deal.

Barring Jasson Dominguez, Yankees Must Keep All Prospects Available For The Juan Soto Trade!

Juan Soto is the generational star the New York Yankees need right now. His offensive prowess holds the key to Yanks’ championship dreams. However, the Bronx Bombers’ unbreakable bond with top-tier prospects can become a roadblock in this trade of a lifetime. It’s not a secret that the Bronx is home to many highly skilled talents. The likes of Jasson Dominguez, Anthony Volpe and Oswald Peraza have displayed the damage they can do if given a platform at the right time. But at the same time, San Diego Padres is not naive. They know what’s at stake and will look to exploit the Bombers farm system while demanding an exchange offer for Soto.

This is the time for the New York Yankees to show some guts and keep everyone on the table for negotiations. Of course, the ask for Jasson Dominguez and Anthony Volpe in exchange for a one-year contracted Juan Soto would be a ridiculous ask. But if it leads to a stalemate, the Bombers must not hesitate to take the plunge. Except Dominguez, the club should be open to offer any and every prospect in exchange for Juan Soto. The prospects are there to secure the long-term future of the franchise. But if that front office needs immediate results before Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole pass their prime, Juan Soto is their guy. He is the missing link the Bombers desperately need. Thus, desperate situations will demand desperate measures.

Padres Financial Situation Blessing In Disguise To Yanks!

San Diego Padre seems to be in deep financial trouble. The Athletic, after speaking to a few unnamed insiders, learned that the Padres loaned $50 million from a third party this season to cover expenses. The $250 million payroll ball club fell short of funds and sought MLB’s permission to allow a limit of $100 million. However, league authorities only sanctioned $50 million as they deemed it enough to cover the necessary costs.

Having said that, Padres’ financial situation could be a blessing in disguise for the New York Yankees. The financial constraint will force San Diego to walk Juan Soto as he is projected to earn $31 million in his final year. This clears the path for the Yankees to exploit Padres’ desperate situation and negotiate a steal deal for Soto. It is an opportunity for Hal Steinbrenner to play smart and secure top-tier prospects.
