Aaron Judge’s first season as the New York Yankees captain turned out to be an absolute nightmare. The team sat at the bottom of the AL-East division for the major half of the season. Moreover, on Sunday, the Bronx Bombers officially fell out of the postseason race following a brutal 7-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Aaron Judge, meanwhile, seemed livid.

The captain, who returned half-healed in late July, wasn’t a happy man when the Yankees’ playoff dreams got quashed. He had given his everything, including risking his health, to salvage the season somehow. But in the end, it did not matter much. Having said that, Aaron Judge is determined to give back to the passionate fans and lead by example to his teammates.

A gruesome toe ligament injury pushed Aaron Judge to the sidelines for two months. Meanwhile, his team, the New York Yankees, had to pay a heavy price as the team collapsed offensively in his absence. That, in turn, led to humiliating losses, which eventually led to playoff elimination. While Judge returned half-healed in July, the Bombers playoff ship has already sailed. As the Yanks officially fell out of the postseason race, talks of shutting down the captain gained momentum. He is still playing through an underlying toe injury as the ligament tear is yet to heal at 100%.

However, Aaron Judge refuses to shut down. After a 7-1 loss to the Diamondbacks, the captain confirmed that he plans on being out in the field till the end of the regular season. He says that as a professional baseball player, he has to play even if he feels 60%. It is about what you are willing to offer on the field. “It’s about showing up every single day. You’re not going to feel 100 percent every single day,” added Judge. Not only that, the captain wants to lead by example for his Yankee teammates. He believes that as a leader, it is his responsibility to inspire the young guys to come out on the field even if they are not feeling great. “You gotta be out there every single day for your teammates,” explained the Yankees captain.

Meanwhile, the New York Yankees skipper, Aaron Boone, has vowed to keep captain Aaron Judge’s best interest in mind as the latter is adamant about continuing the season. Judge refused to shut down for the season despite unhealed toe as he wants to lead by an example to his teammates. However, it poses a greater risk of injury aggravation, which the Yanks intend to avoid at any cost.

Further, Aaron Boone lauded Aaron Judge’s resilience and said that he never lets his struggles known to anyone. Nobody can tell that the captain is going through something as he turns up with the same energy every day. “He’s our captain. Whether we’re riding high or lowest of lows, he’s really good about keeping a neutral mindset all the time,” added Boone.
