Red Bull star Max Verstappen has been an invincible force in F1 Motorsport in the last few years. Arguably, no other driver had a more dominating reign than the Dutchman. He has won 40 races since 2021 so far. There are still four more races remaining in 2023. He is about to break his own record of last year. Last year, Max won 15 races and broke the previous best record of Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher, who had won 13 races in a season.

However, the race last Sunday was not as easy as other GP wins for Max. He had a tremendous fight with his rival Lewis Hamilton for the top spot on the podium last Sunday. But things got more difficult for the Dutchman when he faced issues with the car’s brakes. He didn’t even shy away from letting Gianpiero Lambiase, his race engineer, know all about the problems with the brakes. Max Verstappen mentioned the brakes were a piece of “S**t” compared to the ones they used during Qualifying sessions.

Helmut Marko Revealed Why Max Verstappen Had Issues With The Brakes

At first, Lambiase told Verstappen to watch out for his pace as it started to drop during the race on Sunday. In reply, Max mentioned that he had that information already as those brakes are just “S**t.” Despite the rage because of the issues with the brakes, Max Verstappen held on to the pace to win the race. He was 2.2 seconds faster than Lewis Hamilton, who finished second at the US Grand Prix. Later, the Red Bull advisor explained what went wrong with Max’s brakes. Helmut Marko told Sky Deutschland that the team had changed the brake pads, and perhaps something got stuck at the brakes somehow.

Hence, it could have been just a simple error. But Max Verstappen was unhappy because he had no good feeling whatsoever with the brakes throughout the whole race. Moreover, Helmut Marko realizes how difficult it must have been for Max out there. He mentioned that Verstappen handled the situation masterfully. According to the Red Bull advisor, the US GP was the toughest win for Max Verstappen. But Max performed amazingly well without any mistakes.

Helmut Marko Praised Sergio Perez To Start From 9th And Finish 4th

But to the surprise of many fans, the Red Bull advisor praised Sergio Perez more or less after the US GP. Helmut Marko said it was incredibly difficult to overtake, but Checo displayed a quite satisfactory result. Moreover, Sergio’s pace was impeccable, and on the medium, he drove the same lap times as his teammate. That’s what helped Checo to finish fourth from the ninth position where he was at one point.

Anyway, Max Verstappen’s hegemony might not be very popular across the F1 circuits. In fact, many fans believe with no competition in the sport, the races are getting boring. Recently, the fans in Austin booed Max Verstappen during the US Grand Prix last Sunday. Despite all the negative comments and booing, the Dutchman won the race anyway.
