Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, the two most successful racers on the current grid, are in the race to create a new record. The arch-rivals have won six races each in the United States, the most by any racer. Therefore, one of them could create this new record in this weekend’s showdown.
Moreover, this isn’t the first time the two world champions will lock horns. The infamous ultimate race of the 2021 season saw the two fight it out for the world title. While Max Verstappen was crowned as a champion in a controversial decision, he has been on the rise ever since. On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton lost his charm after that disheartening race, as he had just won two races. Therefore, this contest would be interesting, especially when both Red Bull and Mercedes are struggling. Meanwhile, McLaren could be the party spoiler, as the team is on a momentous run.
Who Will Move Ahead In Austin- Verstappen Or Hamilton?
Lewis Hamilton has won six races in the United States, with his first victory in the 2007 Indianapolis race. One of the most dramatic victories came in 2015 when Mercedes was on top. In the 2015 United States GP, the Briton was accelerating towards his third world title. On the other hand, his teammate Nico Rosberg was stepping on his toes. However, the British racer got better of his teammate, ultimately winning the US GP and WDC title.
Max Verstappen also has six victories on US racing tracks. Three victories came on the Circuit Of Americas, two at the Miami GP and one at the Las Vegas GP. His recent track record has been phenomenal, and he could be the favorite to break this record. Moreover, the two racers will have another shot with the Las Vegas GP set for 27 November.
Looking at the current scenario, the RBR team is in a much better position than Mercedes. The Dutchman could win the US GP with a podium finish in Singapore and the latest floor upgrades. However, the efficacy of the new floor would ultimately decide the race’s outcome. Meanwhile, the Silver Arrows are also introducing some new components to improve the W15’s balance. However, the car has been severely off-color, especially post-summer break.
McLaren To Spoil Verstappen And Hamilton’s Party?
While Red Bull is still the top team, it has been bamboozled by the current Constructor’s leader, McLaren. The momentous Woking squad is on a winning run. As a result, the team has been unstoppable, winning every other race with a solid MCL38. The British team is looking to stretch the lead and clinch both the world titles. Therefore, Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri could definitely upset Verstappen and Hamilton.
