Max Verstappen did not let Lewis Hamilton win his eighth F1 title in 2021. Instead, he won his maiden title. In the process, the Dutch driver helped Red Bull regain their dominance on the grid. As things stand, it looks highly unlikely for any team to beat Red Bull. The main reason for that is their superior car. Mercedes is really struggling with their car.
They made a big mistake repeating the same concept of 2022 last year as well. On the other hand, Red Bull went on to win 21 of 22 GPs. Max Verstappen won the lion’s share of those Red Bull victories. Now, an F1 pundit believes the Dutchman can go on to win seven titles himself, then Hamilton might never win the coveted eighth title.
Max Verstappen, A Real Challenge For Lewis Hamilton To Win His 8th Title
The former team manager of Ferrari and Williams, Peter Windsor, recently spoke about Hamilton and Verstappen’s rivalry on a YouTube livestream. After Lewis Hamilton finished two back-to-back seasons winless, Windsor wonders if he will taste title success ever again. On the other hand, the F1 Analyst mentioned Max Verstappen “Absolutely” can win seven championships with the way things stand. Moreover, he said earlier that he was discussing with a friend of his that how good the Dutch driver is right now. Moreover, they have a great team, and Windsor praised the duo of Christian Horner and Adrian Newey, who made Red Bull a very good team over the years.
On top of that, the F1 Analyst pointed at Max Verstappen always being part of this good team and knowing these people really well. This whole dynamic added with Verstappen’s intense talent has taken a leap. Windsor says that he has never seen any driver in F1 to take that leap because Max is so much in sync with the race-winning car. Everything has been working out so well for the Austrian outfit. The car is great, and it brings out the best in Max Verstappen every season. But Windsor hopes to see Lewis Hamilton win again. However, he has doubts if that’s possible as long as Max drives a Red Bull.
How The Dutchman Helped Red Bull Regain Their Dominance?
It had been a long time for Red Bull to lose their hegemony to Mercedes. With Sebastian Vettel steering the wheel, the Austrian outfit dominated the grid from 2010 to 2013. But then the turbo hybrid era began in 2014, and with that, the German team reached the summit. Mercedes went on to win eight titles in a row. Lewis Hamilton won six titles between 2014 and 2020. In the year 2021, the great Briton reached very close to becoming the only driver in F1’s history to win eight Driver’s World Championships.
However, it saw an epic battle between Max Verstappen and the Mercedes legend to see things go topsy-turvy in the sport. There were controversies, but too much excitement around the competition between the two great drivers. Anyway, the young Dutch challenger eventually turned out to be the victor. But since 2022, Max Verstappen just did not look back as he went on to win two more titles and won record number of seasons in each seasons.
