The Red Bull squad had a nightmare on their home visit. The Austrian Grand Prix was a forgettable weekend for the host squad, with several crashes and penalties. Red Bull sensation Max Verstappen clashed with McLaren’s Lando Norris, earning penalty points for dangerous driving.

Furthermore, the RBR squad fared well at the Spanish and Canadian Grand Prix. They aimed to reestablish dominance during a chaotic era of internal chaos. Since the political power struggle began, things did not seem bright for the Milton Keynes-based side. As a result of their straight victory, the squad was ecstatic. However, just as the skies appeared to clear, the clouds returned with an intense downpour. As a result, Verstappen and his team had a disaster in the Austrian Grand Prix. Therefore, to overcome the hurdle of Silverstone, the technical team has announced two upgrades for the overall improvement of the RB20.

The 2024 season started on a favorable note for Red Bull. The energy drink-based outfit was enthusiastic, as it was the favorite to win the world title. While the Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez duo performed exceptionally well during the first few races, it all went downhill after a while. With an Internal power struggle shaking the base, the RBR squad started to look vulnerable. Additionally, the rivals decoded their secret, and the technical team was left with nothing new to improve the RB20 as they hit the developmental ceiling. Thus, by taking inspiration from Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari climbed the ladder, and the once unbeatable team suddenly started losing. Although Max Verstappen’s racing excellence clinched some silverware from a tight situation, the domination was nowhere to be seen. The team had to withstand the pressure from the rivals as the fear of losing grew. After a terrible Austrian GP, the team left no stone unturned to improve the F1 prospect.

The Red Bull squad announced an updated floor for the Silverstone GP. Further, tweaks were made to the floor’s edge and bottom. The RBR official stated that the change was made to improve performance, as they reprofiled the top and bottom of the side impact structure tube. Moreover, the changes resulted from extensive research and comparison with the full-scale results. The design of the edge wing is detailed to give more camber while managing the flow stability.

On the other hand, McLaren engineers pump gas into the Woking factory. While Red Bull introduced long-term changes, McLaren has more circuit-specific tweaks. The squad has five updates, including the rear wing to lower the downforce.

Further, the team has opted for three beam wings, slightly modifying Lando Norris’s car’s bonnet. The team also added an extra cooling outlet. Thus, the McLaren squad would like to forget the past crash and focus on returning with a solid performance.
