Helmut Marko is the senior advisor of the Red Bull Racing team. He has been part of the Austrian outfit since its inception. The company founder, Dietrich Mateschitz, appointed Marko back in 1990. Hence, the senior advisor has overseen and shaped the careers of a lot of RBR’s legendary drivers, like Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen. This year, the Dutch racer mentioned that he is very loyal to the 81-year-old senior advisor. Hence, the Milton Keynes outfit must keep Marko if they want to keep the triple-time reigning champion.

However, there has been a lot of talk going on regarding Verstappen’s move to Mercedes. But the Dutch racer mentioned earlier that he cares about the performance, and until the RBR car continues to dominate the grid, he has no reason to leave the Austrian outfit. Lately, though, Helmut Marko pointed out that Red Bull has fallen behind a couple of teams.

Recently, in an interview with Speed Week, Helmut Marko mentioned that there is a sense of relief in the Red Bull camp about the Hungarian Grand Prix. After all, they have all been waiting for new upgrades on the team. Hence, senior consultant Dr. Helmut Marko said, “Thankfully, we are awaiting updates in Budapest.” Moreover, the 81-year-old advisor believes those upgrades will help the team in moving a step forward. Adding to that, the F1 consultant mentioned the team needs to be “Perfect” every weekend to win each race. On top of that, Helmut Marko noted that certainly at present a couple of teams have gone ahead of his team. He said that the update must work because they are currently behind Zak Brown’s McLaren team.

Then, he pointed at the race in Silverstone, saying, “The race in England proved that Mercedes is also ahead of us.” But one thing that has been working for Max Verstappen and the Austrian team is that the rivals are “Taking it in turns to win GPs.” Hence, Marko said, “Max has still managed to extend his lead in the standings.” Anyway, the 81 year old F1 consultant mentioned that Red Bull can’t rely on the rivals taking it in turns. But he insisted that the goal should be to win titles on their own and not rely on what the rivals do. Moreover, Marko feels that Ferrari is no longer “In the running.”

Helmut Marko mentioned that there are still 12 more race weekends to go and they can’t rely on other teams. Moreover, the big problem Red Bull is facing at the constructor’s standings is because of the poor performance of Checo. Again, it seems like Max Verstappen is the only hope for the Milton Keynes team. Marko said that they will need their two drivers at the front and hopes to see Sergio Perez regaining his form.

Moreover, the F1 consultant of RBR said, “We will evaluate the situation in the summer break after the next two GPs. Then we’ll see.” Also, Marko added the fact that it is great to see young drivers like Liam Lawson making their full-time step up in the sport. He also said that some drivers are blocking the way of the youth. But he absolutely favors the idea of seeing young drivers coming to F1.
